Our club checked out an estate sale, yesterday, one in partic we've tried for ages to do, thankfully it was still available. Four '64/'65 Thunderbirds, a**** it all, that was one of the main attractions for me, 2 as parts cars, 2 as saveable-with-***les. A buddy scored a Flattie, another has his eye on shop equipment. Also, there's a '58/'59 F-100 whose interior & drivetrain will work out great for my '57 (Y-block with a stick, how 'bout that, Kev? ). I'm prepping the photos to post. Though I've had my mind on those 'Birds long before I met her, I'm going to hook my girl up with a cruiser for us to revive together, and she's quite psyched about it. An update, now that I've discovered Imageshack (tm), and have a lil' time... later that month we brought it home (along with 2 parts 'Birds which recently I finally got out of the yard). When I spotted the light blue one of the bunch, I knew that was the best one for her. The very day when she knew I was picking it up, still managed to surprise her by picking her up from Work with the ol' girl on the trailer and a pair of keys to drop in her hands. It turned out to be a ***** of a time rolling it on and off the trailer, as the p***enger rear wheel is locked up (included is a shot of a bunch of us trying to unload her, as her dad looks on from the truck). She broke her ankle in late Feb., and is eager as ever to get back on her feet to work on it, I can't wait either. Have gotten to know the family we acquired it from, kept in touch. The widow was its main driver, said it runs like a dream 'til the brakes went out right as she was pulling into the long driveway, where's it's sat since (been a few years), but says she had fun surprising young punks who tried to take her on. Kitten's turn is next. Whose rollin' in a '65/'64 Tbird, how'd you customize it? It's her first own hot rod project, she's planning on either Rusty Wallace Blue with subtle flames coming up from the bottom or blue flames on pearl white, chrome reversed wheels 'n skirts for starters.
I like the 65. Big block, Disk brakes and sequentials. Mine is mild custom, hi po. I thought grease was the word?? Looks good, I know a yard in Jersey has like 8 or 9 of them. My girl wants a fenderless hot rod tho. I haven't even built mine yet dammit!
Hey Cat- Rod and Kulture is doing a project 1965 T-Bird! Can't give away any details until its finished, but I can say that they make great Kustoms without a ton of money. Should be done soon though. I'm hoping to have it at the Jalopy Showdown in May.. Spike
I have a '65. Working on a mild custom look. Not much done so far but I did get a "tip" (can't say who from just yet) on removing the rear tailight bezels. It makes the lenses look kinda "frenched in". Also a custom shift knob and a set of Caddy 'caps for now. Kritz added a few lines to the hood and trunk for me. Next on the list is dropping the front a little, a set of wheels and (when I get the coin) doing the roof (like the photos). Good luck with your new project.
Here's an old (80's vintage) cutom T-Bird that my old boss and I began customizing, but never finished. We recently found it sitting in back of a bodyshop, but the guy in the background, who wanted to buy it, slept on it too long...and missed the deal. Now the guy won't answer this pahone mesasges. I guess it's lost. Coulda been a real nice car! Chopped top, scooped hood and quarters, nosed, decked, shaved, extended skirts, molded lake pipes.
This was my first car, bought when I was twelve... Pretty much stock except for VW teal color and white interior. Probably the nicest one I have had. I miss it.
