I thought this was really kool that badbob had this done and it was signed at the HAMB CHOP '06 via 'casa chopped50ford (Norm's). Not only did all sign it that were present but, Bob himself came out to be quite an artist by doing characters of each of us. He also brought it out to the MoonEyes show and it was kool to see others sign it that came by to say hi. I see that Gambino (Alex) has one at the shows he attends and is doing the same thing. I just think it is a great simple thing that unites all us HAMB bros and sis. Alex has the NorCal covered and babbob has SoCal. We still have to cover the midwest, deep south, east coast, and those outside the country. Just thought that props are due to those two. With that said....."VIVA LA HAMB"!!!!!!!! What a great ****in site to be on (teary eyed)........ sorry 'bout that, it happens!!!!!!!!! NOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do not make or sell these things, "Dreadman" does!
I got to sign Alex's banner at VLV just a week ago. It is very cool. If I can get one I can cover the South.
The "midwest" is covered by the king of banners OldBobSign. Over the last 6 months or so he's brought a banner to every HAMB function around. This one is from the Hunnert car PileUp 2007 and I'd guess-timate over 100 folks signed it in just a couple hours time. Hard to tell in teh photo but it's 12 feet long. Detroit Autorama 2007 (kinda hard to see, it's in the background of a group shot) Lonestar Roundup 2007
The banners need to be hung up though. I saw Alex in Vaegas and signed his and I though it was a great idea. We're all a bunch of internet stalkers on here. We talk to the same people everyday and no one knows what each other likes like. We need a universal sign or somehting. I'll take care of the east coast if you guys send me one. I'm at all the shows.
^^ Hence the reason for "Meet & Greets" at the different shows that HAMB folks attend. Wearing a HAMB shirt and having names tags available at the meet and greet goes along way in helping people connect. The key is PLANNING. Ya gotta pick a spot and time and do a roll call or something like that a week or so before the event. It's not rocket science.
It's also damn embar***ing when the dude wearing the HAMB shirt isn't even a HAMBer and has no idea what you're talking about! That happened to me in New Zealand when I introduced myself to a bloke that had been given one by his mate. Won't be doing that again!
It only took ya a little over 28 hours to post on here Bob. What's wrong, a little tired getting home from work now? Only old guys take naps after work....Geezer! KNUX!
The dude that was wearing a shirt whos meaning he knew nothing about should be the embar***ed one along with the dufas that gave him the HAMB shirt and didn't spread the gospel of traditional hot rods and customs to this dude. Don't let this one incident stop you from introuducing yourself to other like minded folks. Hell, I've introduced myself to TONS of folks with HAMB shirts on and never got the response you got so I really think it's a longshot that it would ever happen to you again.....unless of course Aussies and Kiwis have a habit of wearing stuff that they don't understand.
Ya but were all dumb car jockeys on here, we don't have the guiding hand of a woman to help us. Vegas was kinda out of my hands, at least I thought so. All the shows on the east coast I at least do a roll call or reply to one and let everyone know where I'll be. Meet and greets are the best thing since sliced bread for the HAMB.
"knux" stands for knuckles. I think it really stands for "knucklehead". Since nobody on the HAMB knows him from his hockey days!
I ran into Alex at VLV this year, so I signed his banner. It looks like he will be needing a new one. He is running outta space on that thing.
This is the very first HAMB type "banner" that I can remember. This board was taken around to events all over the midwest during the summer of 2002. I believe it is still hanging on Enjenjo's shop wall. One very similar was done during the summer of 2003, minus the SRS part cuz by that time most of us didn't want to be ***ociated with that site. I have that one here at the house. Don't know exactly whos banner this one is. I think it either belongs to BobK or Enjenjo. In any event it gets displayed at L'ville each year.......no matter what the weather. This one does belong to BobK, taken Speed Week 2003 HAMB Drags 2003
Well look at all this going on. Thanx you Denise for the history of the HAMB banner. Ya ask and thall shall recieve, or something like that. I got 2 hamb'rs pm for a banner. Thanx "Dreadman". I have no say on the banner' and you could either ask badbob or Alex on how they got theirs or Denise, the one who just opened up the banner "vault" on this thread. Bob, if ya knew me back in the day, then you would know what "KNUX" really stood for. KNUX!
Id like to thank Vance for that banner too he made it and what a good job he did, Thought it was cool that he stuck it in my car for the springfield swap meet right after he finished it before he sent it to badbob....so it was in 1 show out east here before anyone signed it
I tell ya, there is always a banner story coming up on here "bada- bing!" KNUX! Props out to Vance too!
You gotta go to the HAMB Drags in Jolpin MO the end of August for the initiation. If you make it through the initiation and will still talk to us then you'll get a banner. I think Fiddy and Tman are running the initiations this year.
A while back I did a 24"x24" HAMB 4-speed logo banner that I auctioned off to benefit the HAMB. Maybe Ryan can give me his official okee-dokee to do another one to auction off again. Just for the record, that banner is in Minnesota and sold for a fair price, something like $162. I happen to have another one like the one that Bad Bob has that will prolly make the rounds this summer, i.e. the Dayton, OH meet and greet and the Hot Rod Cinematic and prolly several others. Don't ask me to sell this one, IT'S MINE. Vance
Vance, ya wanna sell that one? J/K!!!!!! I like the old school looking banner that you posted here too. KNUX!
If I do another to be auctioned off, I'd like to see if we can get it into an area that doesn't already have one. I don't think we want to saturate one area with too many HAMB banners. I'm kinda partial to the 4-speed logo too, but I don't think it's quite as recognizable. Everyone knows the regular HAMB logo that's at the top of the web page. Maybe Ryan could send me something REAL special that's hiding in the back of the HAMB vault to make up one VERY cool banner. 'Course, something like that would almost surely end up in Shreveport, LA... And that's fine with me. Vance
