I've seen it done in several cars, what's involved in putting that big wrap around back seat in another car? Especially one that's narrower? What parts from the bird can you use, which don't you need? Thanks!
I'll let you know in about 6 months, but I've got a pic somewhere of a 46 Coupe with a t-bird interior (you posted it a while back). I have the pieces jammed into the back of my 46 Tudor and it looks like it'll have to be narrowed the width of the center section. But the pic looks like it's not.
Pointers based on the picture posted above; you'll need the armrests, as you can see the wrap around has a relief for them that needs to be used. The back ledge is from a 'rear speaker option' car. that's the one in the picture and the one you want for that appearance. they don't all have the grill for the speaker. I don't know if the ledge is from a vert or HT from the pic. That may make a difference.
I used everything, the armrests and surrounding trim, rear package tray, all of it. The hard part is trimming the package tray end pieces to fit with whatever you are putting it in. Unless you are using it in a narrow car, of course. Mine is in my 57 Ford Custom. I used wood and built a frame for the seat backs, and the center armrest, although steel would work nice as well.
Thanks. I was looking for that pick to post again! LOL. That was a '46, mine is a '47. Both coupes. There's a boneyard near me with about 5 of those birds. There might be enough left to piece together a good rear seat, then have it upholstered. I have custom upholstered bird front seats. I don't know if I want to do the stock back seat to match, or find the whole bird rear seat.
The seats I have, have no reliefs for the armrests, the armrests must go over the seat back. If there are any of the pieces of chromed and metal trim that connect the package tray to the side panels in those 5 birds, I'd like them... Just tell me how much it's worth to you to grab 'em and ship them for me. Mine is a 64, but they should be the same to '66
