Has anybody shot metalflake paint with an airbrush? Do you need a larger tip? I have a Badger Model 250. Can you even get differnt size tips for airbrushes? I looked on Badger's website, and didnt see any (could be looking in the wrong places though). What ratios do you mix flake with paint? Is there some standard? Or is it just a matter of experimentation?
mini flake and ultra mini flake otherwise no... i use an iwata. one technique is to spray the clear and sprinkle the flake in the area you want it... get creative, what are you painting... depends on the application hope that helps Tuckster IWATAS ROCK THE MULLET
It's for my minibike frame. So there isnt a large surface area. I have experimented with sprinkling it on (rattle can laquer). I was using a peice of scrap sheetmetal. couldnt get it "right". I guess it might be differnt on a small tube. Then I remembered I had the airbrush. Figured it would give it a more even coat. And why not use a mini paint gun on a mini bike? I have to research paint for the airbrush too. Trying to do this on the cheep. Do you think craft or hobby stores would sell a nice laquer or enamel that is reasonably priced? All I have ever used in the airbrush is model paint. I tried the PlastiKote metalflake red. The flake looked cool, but it is way more purple than red.
You cant get different tips for a 250 Badger. Thats their el-cheapo model and has no accessories. You can spray small flake thru an airbrush but not that large flake, it just clogs. You can spray it with a touch up gun, works better.
