First, i want to lose my front wheels that are on the car, and replace with the ones pictured. Opinon? Second, i want to get a 2nd set rims/tires for an occ***ional change. Chrome reverse on the back with blackwall or 1" whitewall cheaters? With this, WHAT for the front?
cragars up front....no whitewalls in the rear....with chrome reverse....as for the spindle mount looking ones.....would need a big window like a halibrand...no white wall....would help if the quarters were cut ......then you'd be home free....16x10's hangin out.....just a little....brandon
Leave the ten spokes....but... on the rear, blackwall piecrust slicks on black steel wheels (after you put the sawzall to rear wheelwells)..then, lose the hood....add a 6-71...take it to NCRS and Bloomington...do HIGH RPM smoky bleach burnouts while laughing and throwing empty beer bottles by the feather duster guys.....I promise you..they will LOVE IT!!!!!
Like Brandon said, I would just go with Crager's in front and chrome reverse in the rear with blackwall slicks. Done. Very popular combo from the mid 60's to early 70's, looks good on almost anything, and pretty ea$y on the wallet.
I ain't no scientist, but I do know That the Vette gets em wet! and if she's old that means you are gonna get mud! nothing good to say, Carl
I agree, 15x4 cragars up front with tall skinny tires, 15x10 chrome reverse on the rear with pie-crust slicks, no whitewalls, man that would be on the money! Black steel wheels on the rear would look great too, with chrome lugnuts, and maybe a chrome blockoff plate in the middle of the rim.
I like the ET wheel as a match for your existing wheels. For the other set, blackwalls and 15" x 4" Cragar s/s's up front.
I dunno, Ansen's were real popular in the late 60's when I first started the car thing. I like the guy's idea with the steelies to bolt on for the track day look, but with slicks. I can't remember the last time anyone was stopped for that, not with some of the POS that go to the cruises and happengs. But, yeah, those wheels are cool.
Looks like blackwall cheaters, chrome reverse, and 15x4 Cragars. Good, cause i LOVE Cragars! I dig the black steelie idea for the rear as well. I just don't have the willpower to avoid something shiny, and i really dig chrome reverse anyway. PS-I usually run 165's on front. Anyone know anything about a 185? Available? How it differs height and width? from 165's
I don't even know what to say! Naw, just kidding. Cragars up front and chrome reverse in the back. Blackwall all around and pie cut slicks in the back. It'll be *****in! But really it's pretty freaking good now.
Just when i think they are at the peak of anger, i tell them it's a factory fuel injected car. At least it gets them away from me. I'm not a Vette guy. I'm just a guy with a Vette, that loves Vettes. My next one will be a clone of my first Vette. 64 w/flares, Cragars, M/T indy profile tires, small lip out back/67 Firebird taillights, no bumpers, etc
ive got a stack of old (late 70s early 80S)corvette fever magazines if you want em,there cheezy but got some cool stuff to
I like your new front runners better than the spokers on there now. I vote for black wall tires to continue the improvement campaign. Choices are just about endless, but most combinations mentioned would be a cool setup on a very cool car.
I'd like to have one of those Bloomington Gold ribbons for around my inside mirror. Then i can say to one of those "stuffed shirts", hey, ya got one of these?
Sounds like the look I want for my coupe I'd say a 15x4 Cragar and 15x10 chrome reverse on blackwalls with piecrust slickswould look killer if you wanna sell the 10 spokes let me know!,Paul
Yep. Cragars and chrome reverse is one of my favorite looks. And I think it would be stellar on that Vette. Nice car btw.
This site provides tire dimensions: http://www.project33.com/tiresize.cfm One other period correct option that hasn't been offered up yet- Paint the rear steelies half black and half white... So you can monitor wheel spin.
Hey man, thanks for that. I just ordered tires and wheels for the rear. I'll get Cragars Sunday @ Pomona
I thought the Vette was perfect already. With that photoshop I can see its going to be even cooler. I like brandon's idea of the 16X10s but dont like the idea of cutting wheelwells. I know your style... its going to be cool no matter what changes you make!
