Saw this SBC water pump on Mooneyes' and Speedway's website. Anyone know where I can buy it unpolished?? This thing is way too expensive polished and I don't want it polished anyway. Who makes it? Any idea?
I saw on one website they called it a "B&M Style", so you're probably right. I don't see it listed either though. Anyone here work for Mooneyes and wanna tells where these come from before someone polishes them and send them to you?? Obviously someone is making these and they start out UNPOLISHED.
they come via a slow boat... If you know of any hot rod shops that get the import stuff they can order it for you. its SBC short pump with a number of either R6917 or S6917
I agree! I think it would look even better raw cast. Would be nice to find this raw cast. If anyone can clue me in on where I could get one of these raw it would be appreciated. Thanks guys! BTTT!
B&M used to make something like that, back in the mid '80s when they made blowers. When they sold the line rights to Holley, they either dropped the pump, or it was included with the rights....& since Weiand already makes pumps, you can guess what would happen. Three possibilities I can offer- first: http://www.holley.com/9224.asp Not exactly the same but kinda neat. The polished pictures give a little better view of the style. Second, the B&M pumps very occasionally show up on eBay. Swap meets also....but I don't think B&M probably sold all that many of them. Third, buy a Chinese pump & blast it with something fairly aggressive, like Black Magnum, & de-gold chain it. Won't look cast, but at least not shiny.
Thanks for the tips and yes, I agree... that weiand one is kinda neat looking. I had thought about doing the media blast on the imported pump. Maybe I'll just keep my eyes open for one on ebay. I assume the guts are probably standard SBC pumps, so I could rebuild it if needed. No offense, but read the 1st post on this thread You missed the whole point of the thread.
