Well as some of you know I recently got my first car back ( http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=174634 ) and I am pretty stoked. It was pretty heart breaking when I first saw her again and how much she had been neglected. But, after three days of cleaning rat **** and funk out of the inside; I threw the seats out of my 49 fleetline in it for some creature comfort, got a fresh carb, fresh ignition system, cleaned out the gas tank(thankfully I invested in a Poly tank the first time I owned her) put some tires that held air and fired her up and drove outside for the first time in ten years. I still have a few bugs to work out, but she moves and stops on her own and I couldn't be happier. Once I get it moved into my new garage in the next couple of weeks, I can start on the fun stuff. I plan to chop the top 2-3 inches, french the headlights, make an open mouth grill with some kind of teeth, skirts, WWW/sombrarros, a drag n shop inspired rear treatment, and a coat of metallic dark green swede. Here are a few pics of it in the parking lot and pics of the only two chopped four door sedan 49-52s that I have ever found. So if you have anymore please post them up.
Congrats on gettin' her back. Are you gonna go with a hard-top or post? Leave the doors, or...? Bryan
When I was 13 I wanted to convert it to a two door and hardtop it, but now I own a 49 two door fleetline and a 51 Belair HT so I am going to leave it a four door with straight posts.
I can't remember what the radiator came out of. When I got the car the first time, the radiator was shot. I took it to the radiator shop and they said it was going to be about $350 to fix it. That was to rich for my blood at the time, so I rolled down to the local salvage yard and found one for $30. I didn't know any better at the time.
