Cool pickup...I noticed the body looks channeled on the old Hot Rod cover, but is now stock.

If you read the listing closely it says that truck was built at the same time as the one on the cover. Not the same truck. It's a pretty slick thing to do.

WOW, and it changed from a Chopped and Channeled 34 Ford Pickup to a Chopped and NOT channelled 32 Ford Pickup, which is really a 33 Ford pickup(see the diamond tread runningboards, 33-34 only) in only 50+ years!

I'm glad you pointed that out because I couldn't read the description.

    It gave me a headache.

    Neat truck, though.

lol... that's pretty shady. I tried to read the ad, but the all caps is almost impossible to read thoroughly. Maybe thats a sales tactic too.

  7. Too rich for me! I can, and have done, a lot better than that for that money. History doesn't change what it is. And what it is, doesn't strike me as being worth that kind of money. This has been a paid for public service announcement

WOW, did you read the post DIRECTLY above yours???:D j/k
that truck is awesome, someone should freshen up the paintjob though, but seeing as its the original paint job from the 50's maybe it shouldnt be restored. :/

  11. "TRUCK WAS BUILT DURING THE EXACT TIME THE ROY DESBROW TRUCK WAS BUILT, AND MADE THE COVER OF HOT ROD MAGAZINE IN 1952."

To me, this reads that the truck on Ebay made the cover...

Twisting the language... same as a lie...

I gotta call bullshit on that one...

I'm with the Dog on this one. It's a cool truck, but I would never knowingly buy from someone who was trying to deceive people.
That's like showing me a pic of Carmen Electra and then setting me up with a woman who was born on the same birthday as her.

Yep Truck appears to be a '33 - Kickout Firewall with the 2 bodylines on the back of the cab.

Shady if you ask me - whoever wins is going to be pissed I think - even though it still looks like a decent truck

It has a solution for flathead overheating. Do not put water it them and leave off the hoses. Air cooled!

Someone's gonna get his feelings hurt- but there is some deliberate confusion tactics going on with that description. Those tactics also fooled the guys from Hot Rod magazine who list it as the ACTUAL cover truck in the latest issue- and that mag is included in the listing photos.
I guess I'm gonna hang on to my RPU that was ACTUALLY on the cover of Rod & Custom- should pay off in 50 years ;)

And so now we have misrepresented, possibly even clone, hotrods of hotrods that still exist or never existed at all.
Heck, that truck may have been built last year.
Amazing what technology can do, and say, isn't it?

  20. You might wanna ease up on all of the shit talkin fellas, the seller is a Hamber.

What ever!!! I like this part "THIS TRUCK WAS PROUDLY SHOWN AT THE 2007 GRAND NATIONAL ROADSTER SHOW AND PUT ON DISPLAY INSIDE ONE OF THE BUILDINGS WHERE EVERYONE ENJOYED ITS PRESENCE AND SURROUNDED IT FOR 4 DAYS!" Who cares??? It is a way cool old pick up but the description is trying to link it to the hotrod cover truck which it obviously is not! I hope the bidders arent that dumb LTR Dave

When I read through the description, I got what he was trying to say-it was built by Dick Miller, who also built the cover truck. I didn't fell it was misrepresented in the description, but the price is definitely too rich for me.

Are you defending the misleading language in the eBay ad?

I am thoroughly confused now as to the actual origins of this truck.

JimA pointed out that the editors of Hot Rod magazine were FOOLED by this truck, and stated that it was the same truck as the one that graced the cover. Now it's in print, and the seller is using it as a sales tactic.

The seller should be upfront about the real history, and if the seller is a HAMBer, that makes it 10x more important to be honest.

PS: Paulatxntric -- when it comes to pricing old cars, history and documentation is everything.

It IS a cool truck, but there is a big problem if the history is misrepresented.

  26. i remember that truck a few yrs ago being posted here on the hamb it wasnt running and was a barn find..or one very close to the same. 15k seems cheap to me i seen prjoect trucks like this go for better than 10 k

definitely some wordplay going on in the in the description...dosent seem dishonest just confusing...possibily intentional, maybe just they way it was written...I dig this truck and think around 15k would be fair if it was a runner...but its clear from the pics its going nowhere under its own power...which i dont think was mentioned in the add, so darn hard to read...

You mean that Hambers never lie? I agree that the description is confusing but no one but the seller knows if it was intentional or not. Regardless of the description it's a neat looking old truck. I do agree with the guy about the truck being air-cooled, I thought I had finally discovered why everyone thinks flatheads run hot.

The more i re read it i guess its a bit confusing and the description needs to be changed/revised.....if thats possible.
This is my truck and i am only showing a lot of the uncanny similarities that it has to the Roy Desbrow truck (which by the way has been missing since the late 1950's).
The chop,1950 mercury cream color, Custom hood top and hood sides with 4 inch louvers, grille, gas tank, rear pan,Wheel & tire combo, etc do indeed share a lot with each other.
Sorry for the confusion. No deception intended.

    So does it run?

    Was it in the magazines?

Please put some returns in your description to break the text into paragraghs.
