Keep your eyes open fellas- This looks like a late 30's front end w/ wishbones mascarading as a sleazy trailer. Anyone else have some pics of hidden treasure??
There's a trailer like that in my neighborhood. It even looks like it has Ford wire wheels from 32-35 or so. Are frontends like that of much value? I'd ***ume that the spindles are welded or something to keep it from steering.
Found on ebay.. 32 frame rails, axle, spindles, and 1 usable '35 wire.. Listed as "1930's Ford Front End/Wheels Welded onto a trailer" Brian
This one did have the spindles welded to the axle. but just tacked. ...an easy fix. As far as what they are worth, It would probably cost at least 5 times that for a new aftermarket front end. and this came with rims and spindles too!
And another homeowner in my neighborhood has a Model A pickup box in the front yard with wagon wheels and flowers planted in it. Maybe between the trailer and the planter I'd have a start to a rat rod of some sort? Just gotta find an old cowl!
I got a model A axle, 37-41 spindles with juice brake backing plates off a retired hay wagon. Gave the farmer $10, they're all cleaned up and waiting on my shelf till I start on my roadster project.
I bought one last fall that was made from a model A bed with an early ford front axle that had wide five wheels and hubs on it. Very good bed and tailgate all for $100.
Here is a trailer I bought off Craigslist. It has a '35 Ford axle and brakes, Model T frame and wishbone, and 16" wheels with 6.00 tires. Josh Quick
This old trailer was for sale on Craigslist as a "ford model B trailer". Went to look at it, it was totally in the middle of nowhere. The old guy had had a plan to use it to build a bed for his Jeep. So it really was a half of Ford PU 32-34, I made a 80 bucks deal of sides and tailgate and told the guy to put rear axle on Graigslist again. --mika
My plan for the bed of my F1 is the old trailer that my uncle gave my dad YEARS ago. 48-52 Ford F1 bed made into a trailer, still in good shape. CHAZ
This one I found from local s**** yard, some kind of hay rake I guess. Bought the front end from it by weight...
Lots of trailers were made out of Ford front ends because they were easy and affordable. Some weld the spindles to the axle, but most I've seen either weld or bolt the tie rod to the frame to hold it straight. I've seen every combination from a T to a 48, and just bought a 55 F100 box and frame trailer that was all blasted and painted for $150.
First pic is what I bought for $100 on Ebay, second is what I resold to make my money back. Free P/U bed isn't too bad.
