I'm an East Tennessee local... so Pigeon Forge is just about a half-hour drive for me. I'm probably gonna head over there LATE THURSDAY NIGHT. By then, lots of folks will be coming into town and parking their rods near the street... I've found this to be one of the best nights to go... By FRIDAY night, traffic will be an absolute nightmare... Another good time to go is SUNDAY MORNING... When everyone's stuck in traffic headed back OUT of town... Cruise up the parkway, look at the cars sittin' there, and head back out of town on a backroad. Be looking for me... I'll be kinda easy to spot if I take the '56 Dodge pictured below... But I may be taking the '57 BelAir, which is one of those "belly-button cars".
There is also a gas and oil swap meet, old gas pumps, globes, porcelain signs, that kind of stuff. Dixie Gas, it's about 10 miles from the main drag that runs from the interstate to Gatlinburg. The show is at a farm on highway 411, I believe. If you go to the car show it's worth checking out, if you like old signs and gas station realted stuff. There is usually a pretty good turnout. I'll be set up there and Earl Sheib usually shows up.
