    HOWDY,
    I had a customer drop off a 51 chevy delux 2 door car today , sweet !
he also brought a 74 camaro front stub ....
has anyone mated these together or does anyone know if this front end will work under the car or would an S-10 work better ???
    thanks for any input :)

The Camaro wil be pretty wide for that car the wheels will stick out further than stock.

been covered a lot on this board...if you want to make a road race, canyon carving car use the camaro clip,( but i would narrow it by 3 in.< cut out of the center of the crossmember> ) camaro has the best geometry of any car....
if you just want a good daily driver, with all the ps,disc brake, sway bar etc. then s10 is the best way to go..narrower than camaro by 5 in or so..geometry is not as good as camaro, but WAY better than the 51...
    my 2 c's

you will totaly destroy the value of the car with a camaro clip. i do a lot of these but would not do one for a customer on a car like this as it would only bring bad references to my work. cliping this car only creates more problems than its worth, a must II is the only way to go on 37-54 chevys, thats why every body sells them , if you are determined to clip this car keep asking somebody will tell you its a good deal.

I did a camero clip on a 51 for a customer that HAD to have it and refused to use M II, not really worth the h***le. I would go Must II or update the stock. I narrowed the clip 2" to mate up with the 51

a paid job? no kick back so better go with the yugo front end. have customer go with 7hp briggs and straton only because of current gas prices. the rear could be huffy or sears 26" girls 10 speed. good luck.

Use the search at the top, this is a pretty well covered subject. If you clip the front you'll need to do alot of planning to keep the sheetmetal in the right spot and keep the wheels centered. And you asked for opinions when you asked what is better, be prepaired for what you get....

  16. The camaro front sub is too wide and will have to be narrowed. The S10 front clip fits the car much better as it has the same track as the original. The S10 is front steer however and needs more t******* to fit, but fits.

If you are being paid hourly to clip this car, your labour bill alone will be about the same amount as the MII front end installed. The MII is pretty much a bolt on. I would not clip one of these cars unless there is a problem with the front of the frame rails that replacing them would fix....and then I would use an S10.

I have a complete S10 frame under my 49' Chev fleetline. But my original frame was completely rotted, and I channelled the car a bunch.

    thanks racer rick ,
the front original frame is total junk , thats why she wants to redo it ... she had the camaro clip out for another project and just brought it along to see if it would work
trying to sell her on a mustang II , doesn`t want a ford under her chevy ............

if you are doing this as a business you need to do it right or p*** on the job. a customer that does not want parts on their car because of brand name is unrealistc. thats like saying you would not use a 9" rear because its a ford part on a chevy.

You can update the original with disc brakes, drop spindles and parts from a 53-63 corvette and a 53-54 steering box.
Costs about the same as a mII
I read that a 80s jag crossmember is almost bolt in.
The little bit of reseach that I have done for my 52 is that a Fatmans or TCI is the way to go.
