Hey all, just wondering if anyone can recommend a good disc brake kit for my '59. Elpolacko dropped the front axle for me, so I'm running the stock axle. I know that it's heroic to run drum brakes, but the fact of the matter is I care a lot more about my family and my vintage iron than looking cool. This is my daily driver/work truck so I'd like to be able to get around town relatively stress-free. Thanks for any suggestions.

  3. I've heard & seen good things about all three of the major players' F-100 kits- ECI, Master Power Brakes, & Cl***ic Performance Products- so I think it's up to you. The ECI brackets are a little crude looking, but work, & the kit's a little cheaper. Super Bell also makes kits....kinda pricier than the other three, & I'm not sure how that's justified (not saying it's not, just that I haven't any exp. with their kit).

Oh, BTW, here's the obligatory "yer a wuss for wanting good brakes, grow a pair!" :D Actually, I decided to upgrade after the ol' panic stop to avoid a deer in the hills of Missouri at 11:00pm one night....

When you pull the drums and everything you should send it all to me. :) Kits are readily available from the aforementioned vendors.

Anyone bought that speedway kit? I'm wondering if they use later model F100 rotors or if they just redrilled a different rotor. I bought a kit from them for 37-48 spindles in the ford car bolt pattern (4 1/2 x 5), and they were camaro rotors redrilled with the ford pattern.

Hey, thanks for the tips. Bill- maybe we could work something out. Let me know if you really are interested about the leftovers.

I think I used an ECI kit on my '51 F1 Panel way back when - only bought the brackets & scrounged the rest - converted to 5 on 4.5 small Ford pattern & worked pretty well as I recall...
