This is korny but...

I bought a 40 coupe a while back, ford.
It was a basketcase, everything in pieces,
just body on frame.
To save space, I decided to put the car back together.
Just fixing the running gear,
but leave the patina of when it was last registered in '65.
(it was metallic bright green with gold undercarriage.)

Well as I began to replace the old mechanical stuff,
(the guy I bought it from had bought every replacement part needed x2)
everything was beyond worn out,
unbelievable that it could be driven safely.
The U joint was so worn, the '39 tranny gears were stripped,
the banjo rear could turn easily 1/4 free, the kingpins were wobbly,
steering was minimum 1/3 turn....burnt rubber under the rear fenders...
Just a really worn out car.
I would imagine the driving history of the car while workin on it.

Well I never paid attention to the sheetmetal.
Just that it was there.
While the body/doors were real nice,
the front and rear fenders were pretty hammered.
Someone had beat them to resemble original but not very well.
Everything was really out of wack,
One night I was looking at it,
and realized it must.ve been in a crazy killer accident.

My mind was spinning,
kinda like those M. Night Shymealan movies,
when the guy finally realizes what the fuck is going on.

The thing was I had been so obsessed with gettin it back on the road,
it felt like I was possessed, like the car was makin' me put it back together.
(specially cause since there was no parts chasin, no delays at all, too easy)
I was convinced the '40 had serious mojo issues,
and for a while considered selling or trading it
just because I was trippin on it so hard.

So one day,
this lady came up to the shop with her daughter (25+).
She looked at the '40 and suddenly said,
"I lost my virginity in one of these!!"
Her daughter was in crackin up.
The lady went into detail how the glovebox was chrome, (like mine)
and how he wouldn't let her eat inside the car sometimes.

Well obviously I decided to keep it-
1. figured that if someone was injured or killed by it,
it wasn't the cars fault it was the owner who didn't take care of it.
2. figured a green car couldn't be evil...
3. also if it took a life, it probably made a couple lives in the opera
(rear) seats

Two days after we got it on the road,
we drove it over 900 miles without a hitch.

It will be one year saturday since I started workin on it.

TP

for some reason it stopped talkin to me a couple months ago...
just kidding.

Our 100+ year old house is haunted. Nothing evil but sometimes unnerving things happen. Sounds of things breaking, lights turning off and on in the middle of the night, mumbling heard in the basement. I swear I saw an old lady sitting in the chair in my livingroom (I was sober). Our cats will stare at a spot on the wall and whine etc. It comes in waves- weeks where it's quiet and then weeks when it's very active. It's kind of cool in a way.

4. I found a mouse skull under the back seat of my 62' Buick, and hung it on my tool box. Now I keep finding dead mice in my traps... does that mean his brothers are coming to get me?

I drug a old 55 ford car in a few years ago,
It set in the back yard for a while and for some reason it just gave my wife the creeps, she wouldnt even go outside at night with that car setting there.

When I first brought my 56' Olds home, I would be working in the garage and turn towards the car and catch the profile of an old man at the rear of the car. I told my girlfriend about this and she won't go near the car. It was an old farmers car and it was last drove in 1964, the same year I was born. It sat in a field until the guy I bought it from found it and bought it. Makes you wonder...
The last house I lived at, the guy that lived there hung himself in the garage. I never had anything strange happen in there, but one day I was working in the garage and putting tools into my new tool box. I was looking out the back window of the garage and a man walked by the window. I went out to see who it was and the way the garage sat, there was only one way in and out of the area he was walking towards. As I searched the area of the property where I saw him, there was nobody there. Strange.

Not car related, but happened to me in my house (built sometime before 1860). My Wife and I accept that we have a "roommate"--turns lights on and off, plays with the animals, moves things from where they were left, we've seen figures in the house and on the property...all this I can deal with without freaking out. BUT, one night about 3am I get out of bed, grab a drink, take a piss, back into bed...kinda hot so I'm laying there with the covers off, when oh-so-gently the covers came back up around my neck and I got TUCKED IN! That, dear reader, kept me awake the entire rest of the night...and there's more where that came from.

LOL! C'mon now Nailhead, can't a "FNG" catch a break? LOL!

BTW, lets hear some more of those creepy stories.

10. Some cars just speak to me, and want to live - they have some good mojo around them. This silly fleetline I have that I got off of FatHack. This one just seems to want to live and has given me no real hassles at all in its ressurrection.

Other cars I can't stand to be around. Some real bad juju going on in them.

For instance - about 12 years ago I bought a 1970 vette with a 454 and a 4 gear cheap. It had a brand new black leather interior in it and marina blue paint. It had been sitting for a loooong time and all the rubber was dry rotted and the frame had rotted out from sitting in a dirt floor garage for 20 years. It always had a funk to the interior also. I bought it because it was a 70 big block vette for $3500 even though I really didn't like the car. My girlfriend at the time was scared of it, and said she saw an angry man sitting in it once, and sent me out to get rid of the guy. There was noone there and the doors were still all locked.

We parted it out since the frame on it was completely shot, and the engine was locked up from sitting with several rusted bores. The car was stored outside and would a stink like rotting meat inside it if you left it closed up in the sun. After removing the mint interior and selling it, the stink was twice as bad. The floors and interior fibreglass on the drivers side were all stained dark brown/black, and we were pretty sure thats where the funk came from.

Found out later that just down the way from the little garage we pulled the car out of, was the original owners house. And that original owner had driven his vette up to his cottage, pulled into his little garage with no windows, closed the garage door, hopped into the car and let it run till it was out of gas. This happened in the spring apparently.

They found him in the fall, still in the car.

So all the funk in the car was man juice from him rotting. After selling the engine/trans/rearend/front suspension, trim/interior, and glass, I gave the shell to a corvette shop who were only too happy to get it. Damn thing broke the winch cable being drug up onto the rollback and broke the new owners arm when it slide back into him. He told me a few years ago he couldn't get anyone to buy the shell, so its sitting in his barn.

The car just stinks of bad juju.

This is not car related but it is spook related. And i know how you guys like getting creeped with pictures.
I took these outside my 145 year old home for my wife with who had decorated for Christmas with natural elements. She asked me to take some pics so she could replicate these again some year.
This was taken on a crisp clear evening and no I wasnt smoking. I did not see any of this when I took the picture. Only when I downloaded it. Heres one of many.

Not an old car story but, about 10 yrs ago a friend that worked at his dads shop went out to pick up a totaled car for the parts. He noticed it was full of blood stains. As he was pulling it up on the flatbed he heard a young guy laughing. There were some buildings on the property, but no poeple. He looked around and found no one. After on the truck, he was under it hooking up some ratchet straps, and heard the laugh again. This time it sounded like it was in the car. He got a little freaked this time, but kept working. On the way back to the shop the straps came loose 2 times, the third time he said a couple of the hooks looked as if they were cut off, so he tied them to loops in the truck bed. He swears as he was driving out of the corner of his eye he saw a figure leep from the car. After which the straps stayed tight the rest of the way. His face literally turned white when he told the story.

This isn't hot rod related, but its a little creepy. My junior year of high school a kid in the neighboring town had gotten drunk at a party and decided to walk home. He passed out in the middle of the highway and was hit and killed by a pick up. My senior year one of my friends had bought the truck that hit him. It was an early to mid 90's gray GMC, and like a lot of the light colored GMC's made about that time the paint had started to peal. But what was creepy was the paint on the hood was pealing in the shape of a hand print.

18. Theres a 57 Chevrolet School bus sitting in a field off an old gravel road outside of town. Its a decent old bus aside from the missing windows, just sitting in this empty field a couple hundred yards off the road. Sometimes really late at night if you walk out to it you can hear the children.

I have a photo at home taken of a second floor window of an abandoned hotel, and in the picture you can see a little girl looking out the window. Trick is the pic was taken in broad daylight...........the location? Hotel Grim in Texarkana, Tx.

Not hot rods but certainly traditional. This Hotel was once used as a cancer hospital in the 20's. The owner claimed to be able to help those with cancer and would pretty much milk the families of all their money. Many, many people died there. Its a great hotel to go stay at and you have to take the haunted tour!

My 65 Failane always behaved strangely, sometimes it would just stop working for no reason, the lights did weird things. Several people saw somebody sitting in the car when there was nobody there. A friend got really drunk and was found sitting in front of the car having a conversation with it. Told me the cars name was Betty. Few days later I pulled the backseat out and found the original paperwork, the purchasers name was Bethel Harrington. Think Bethel went by Betty?

23. I was at the show at the Dinner Key auditorium in Miami and saw the James Dean car on the last day it was ever displayed. According to George Barris, in his famous interview on the History channel, the car was never loaded on a truck, and weight slips prove that it never left Florida. Many more stories abound about who took the car. It went somewhere, and my guess would be to the promoters of the show. The car was a mangled mess.

B. The 56 Pontiac Chieftain...

I bought this car from a guy in Ft Smith, he said bodywork had been done to repair buckshot holes in the driver's side, and that the entire passenger side had been bashed in as if someone ate the ditch...but it had been repaired too...I didn't think much about it until months later when I was sitting waiting on the ex wife to get her nails done...teeth marks...on the steering wheel? WTF? Oh well, no biggie...supposedly, the car sat in impound in Tulsa for years before a man bought it, the guy HE bought it from, I've not been able to get the real story on the car, but I wish I could...

The ex wife liked it...

She was into some weird shit, not to badmouth anyone's religion, lord knows I have some strange beliefs in some people's eyes, but for example, she had this fantasy of...well...stuff in a graveyard on halloween, just before midnight...

Halloween night, 2002, we had been to a couple of parties, and although sobered up and driving, I was a bit more willing to help her out with this craziness. I knew of an OLD cemetery up in the hills, and figured it would be just her kinda place, spooky as it was.

We pulled up to the gate, I left the engine running, headlights on...the smoke from the crank vent tube added just enough visual effect to make one think "damn, this should be in some old b-movie..." As the chieftain sat there loping, I opened the gate and said "ladies first.." She gave me a dirty look and went on in...what's this? Could Countess be a bit hesitant to act out her little fantasy?

We weren't there long at all, I grabbed her just in time to see a look of sheer horror cross her face, she said "get me the HELL out of here!" and she ran through the gate and back to the car and shut the door...I laughed, and walked back slowly, got in, shut the door and looked at her a moment. She was shaking, i'd never seen her look like that, it was unnerving.

On the way home, she was mumbling some nonsense about the spirit of some young girl wanting to posess her body and act out something she was cheated out of before being taken out of this world. Mindlessly, I said "What's Rosa wanna do that for?" I didnt' catch it at first, but dammit...where'd that name come from?

We parted ways on or about valentine's day 2003, and it wasn't until 2005 that I drove back to the cemetery to have a look around. I didn't see any stone bearing the name "Rosa..." but a little research online that evening scared the shit out of me. The woman says on her page that it's there...I never saw it...but, here, from the site I found, located in the "shores cemetery" section:

JOHNSON,Rosa ......................d/o Tommy & Elizabeth JOHNSON.......................b-Jun.02,1908....d-May 29,1927

It looks like the Johnsons had several children, and all were pretty young when they passed away, I would like to find out more about them, but I think maybe it's best I don't...

so, the pontiac may or may not be haunted, but several people who haven't heard jack squat about either story have ridden in it, and said something just isn't quite right about it...or maybe it's just me?

cheers,
Mark
Think thats the same cemetary behind the car and owner with the face you can see rite through??????
Thats freaky!

I used to deliver parts for a chevy dealership and I’d stop into this shop that belonged to an old sprit car racer (Riley Collins), he always had cool stuff so I’d nose around his shop a bit, one day I noticed a Big Block Chevy in the back. It had some cool M/T valve covers and a tunnel ram, I asked him about it and he told me it had been there for years and that he had salvaged it from a flat bottom boat that had sunk in the 70’s. He didn’t really need it so $500 bucks and it was mine. I took it to this guy Old Man Gene to take it apart; it ended up being a LS6 with square-port closed chamber heads. When he asked where I got the motor I told him the story and he stepped back and told me that the boat belonged to Van Landen who owned a shoe repair shop in Salina</ST1:ps, Ca (no relation to Vans shoes). He let his two employees take the boat out and they stopped at Genes on there way to the lake to fix a tire on their Ranchero. They ended up taking it to <ST1:pLake </ST1:pwhere they wrecked it and both where killed. I ended up selling the motor but I still have the valve covers (they are currently on my 55) and the tunnel ram. Nothing weird has happened but I’m sure there’s some bad mojo around that stuff.

My family has dozens of stories.....heres mine

In 1992 my wife and I were traveling north on I-25 just accross the Colorado border at night and we were wide awake, talking and digging on some tunes, and we reached one of those spots in the road where there is no other traffic ANYWHERE, no lights from town either. All of a sudden this very "bright white" female figure came directly out of the center median approx 3 feet from my wfes window hesitated just long enough for us to see it out of our peripherals then it shot straight up.
I immediately dove into the back seat to look out the rear window and my wife lunged toward the windshield to look up.......
NOTHING.
We sat quietly for a moment before we compared our stories. We both agreed to seeing a woman with a sunken-in face, long hair and a long gown that had a wispy shape past the waist and she was very illuminated. I remember it like it was yesterday...........

30. Theres some pretty famous ones not far from here. You have to walk an abandoned rail line that runs out in the woods, past a cemetary, and you'll get to them.

Its been featured on Unsolved Mysteries and sum other show like Ghost Hunters. Its a popular attraction for the high school/college crowd. Hell, when my wife and I were dating, she helped chaparone a church youth group out there to see it!!!
