What color should I paint my grill?

I just bought a media blasted '54 chevy grill off of ebay (since I wrecked it back in May). Now my only thing is what color to paint where... I know that it will be black and prowler yellow. I was thinking the bars being black and metal behind the turn signals metal yellow. But go crazy with it.

Black and yellow might make it look like a bumble bee, I'd save some pennies and chrome it.

Frist option is, like so many others chrome, but if that isn't an option what about white? They did come with painted bumbers and grill if you didn't order chrome ones!

chrome it, slam it and put some 185/75R14 pinner whites and 14" wires...

 

Black, just my opinion. I think it would look low profile considering that the whole thing is loud like a banana.

 

I would not do black or yellow. If I couldn't do chrome maybe I would think about a creme color. Then maybe do the wheels to match. Kinda mellow it out a little. IMHO

 

If you're not going to chrome it (my first vote too) consider scouring it with a Scotch Brite along the horizontal and clear coating it. It'll add some brightness to the front of the truck.

You could also sand it going down through different grits to 2000 and then use some Simi-Chrome to buff it out. Polished steel looks a lot like chrome and it's much cheaper. Of course, the challenge is to keep it from rusting. A clear coat will help but I don't know how long that'll last when exposed to the elements.

Color wise, I like the cream suggestions; white is to much of a contrast and black would look too bumblebee-esque, if that makes sense.

Chrome.

 

Black would suck. White if $ or patience is a problem. Chrome is the best choice.

 

my pal has one that is Cream...looks pretty good...not quite as harsh as white.

 

I've seen some done in various shades of silver or metallic gray that looked decent... if you go that route, you'll want to do the same thing to the bumper to tie it all together... but I still vote for saving up for chrome, too.

Black would only be a half-notch cooler than fluorescent pink.

 

Definitely not black. If chrome isn't an option I'd paint it the same color as the rest of the truck.

 

I say chrome also but I'd vote for the cream over anything else.
