My dad and I were out junkyarding today because we had some beautiful weather finally. I had the camera with me and took a few shots of some very interesting things.... Man, I love this stuff
I like that Henry J. Of course, God knows what the other side looks like. Is this 'yard near Burt? I haven't been to any good junkyards down here. Actually, I haven't been to any junkyards at all down here. -Dave
I could realy use that truck cab looks like a 34 ford to me. If you get back there ask them what they want for it.
The yard is just outside of Vassar. The old man want high dollar for everything, that's probly why it's all still there.
Thanx for those pics, they're awesome! That 62 looks like it's save-able. Don't see a whole lotta rust around the rear wheel well which is pretty rare for the "rust belt"
Oh yeah, I know that yard. Neat stuff, but most of it is rotten to Hell, and the old man is a dreamer when it comes to pricing...
It looks like it was going pretty fast when it abruptly stopped. Kid probably got some new wheels and raised letter tires and took on the world of physics. I personally hate junk yards like this. They are really junk yards, as opposed to a real salvage yard. The people there usually have no teeth (or maybe just one left), the same coveralls they bought in 1963, and a belief they own gold bullion instead of scrap.
Exactly. The old guy wanted a hundred dollars for a mid 80's malibu back bumper that wasn't really that sweet. I didn't even ask about the truck. It was all pretty much junk anyway, just stuck there for looks.
Yeah...they will read Hemmings or Auto Trader and see all these high dollar cars and get an inflated opinion of what their stuff is worth..no sense in trying to tell them it took 10 thousand worth of work and parts for that car for sale to reach its 15 thousand asking price....
Remember, a Junkyard is a place for things nobody wants! A salvage yard is a place for guys like us. Steve
