WOW! Your Dad sure had some collection of steel over the years. My favorite is the flathead powered rail. I am sorry for your loss it looks like your pop had a hell of a good time. I wonder if they let you twirl wrenchs in heaven?

  3. I never got a chance to meet your Dad but we had mutual friends, The red 34 roadster with the flattie came from Michigan if it's the car I think it is. It has a quick change that I used to own. That was a long time ago. Another pal of mine who lives in Mesa (Ralph Kooi) mentioned your Dad often. Wished I would have met him.

Dude, your dad had some really cool rides!!! It is awful nice of you, his son, to pay tribute to him in this way and share all these memories of his cars and what and where you were and doing when these pictures were taking.. Thanks for sharing them with all of us, I'm sure you have inspired some of us just by seeing his pictures. Make daddy proud and go out and build you something, he will be on your shoulder to help you get through it.

    thanks again for sharing......:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Boy, you both were very lucky, and skilled, to have had so many cool rides. He was way too young to go. The word cancer is nastier and more evil than any word I can think of. Seems to hit more good people and not enough of the ones that screw up the world for the rest of us. Take one day at time and enjoy it.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing. Makes me want to dig out some of my family's past rides. Sorry to hear about your dad. I wouldn't know what do without mine, even though when we work in the shop in looks like an episode of American Chopper at times. :D Makes for good memories and looks like you have many.

  10. Sorry to hear about your father's p***ing. From the pictures you've shared, he appears to have been a very talented and open minded rodder. And the ute in the front yard, apparently he was a man of humor as well.

    Thanks for sharing your memories.

  11. I remember seeing your dad's sprint car at the Nostalgia Drags in Fremont in like 1987...

Sound like your dad was a cool dude!

I especially like the F-U to the neighbors!

    Sam.

I don't remember the 40 willys, but that is the same purple 38 in my Avatar. The only thing that has changed on it is the wheels and tires.

When everyone was building Red Fords in the 80's, Dad built a Purple Chevy. Won Top 25 at the Street Rod Nats OKC in '83.

Your Dad sounds like a great guy. I have pics of Willie G. Davidson's car I took on Americruise 1999. I will try to find and post them.

    Hi Dan,
My father John Babb was the first driver of the red 96 Trostle car many years ago. I can remember it in our garage in Ottumwa, Ia. I am pretty sure this is the car that Dad set fast time in at the Knoxville, Ia. nationals in 1964 and was 2nd fast in 1965. The car was around for several years and had many drivers. The last I heard, it was in a collectors garage in Moravia, Ia. but, I'm not sure if that's true or not.
Sorry for the loss of your father, mine died in 2006 from bladder cancer.

Hey Steve, glad you jumped in here. The last I saw of the car was about 5-8 years ago. Interstate Batteries owned the car and they used it as a display piece in they're tent when they traveled around to different car shows. I last saw it at a GoodGuys event in Scotsdale, Arizona. The had put an electric starter and auto trans in it so they could drive it around on and off the Interstate Batteries transporter.
