Hi everyone, I don't post very often but i'm alway's on here lurking around. I have a 51 Pontiac still running the straight 8 and generator. My question is where can I get a fan belt for that thing! The belt that's on right now is a Gates 465 Green Stripe. I've been on the Gates websight but it say's that belts not available and I've been to a ton of auto shops who cross reference it but it turns out to be too short or not wide enough and most often both. What belt do you guys run? I'm going crazy over here.
Take the old belt and go to a bearing supply company in your area. They should be able to hook you up.
Well let me end your craziness! the belt you need is a TR22397 the 3 digit series (465) was changed over to the new number system about 7 years ago or so, maybe longer time does fly! Best place to find this belt is going to be a heavy duty part's store (Truck Parts) or warehouse that deals in Truck parts, it is considered a truck belt (green stripe, is our heavy duty line) but many earlier cars (30,40,50's) used this series belt PM me a zipcode and I will get you close to where you can find this belt. xtralow
