Great weekend, took Winfields metal class, and what a wealth of knowledge. Meet some cool people, saw some awesome things and learned from one of the best.
It was a great weekend... Hope everyone made it home safe. Never imagined going into the weekend we'd be in on a '51 Merc chop, let alone getting to take Gene and Jimmy out for dinner with studhud, dontknowslow, myself and Pete. Too many pictures, lotsa stories, new ideas, and learned Gene's secret to clean living. (you'll have to ask the man himself). I don't know about the other guys, but I wasn't worth a sh*t when I got to work on Monday... Good Times...
I went with my buddy Slim we ended going out to dinner with Gene and some of his crew till late then drove 350 miles home didnt get home till 3am but the weekend was worth it. I had the best time we were laughing so hard I couldnt breath. The best part about Gene is he is so down to earth no attitude! He's also open to new idea's from everyone as he admits he does'nt know it all. At 79 years of age he's remained teachable. Which to me makes him a RULER!!! We stayed up late every night talkin with him about all kinds of crap he's just one of the guy's!Todd and Nick I got photos of you guys if you like? I will also put up a photo bucket link so everyone can check em out! And oh I will go back again as its worth it just to hang out. LTR
Heres a link to a photo bucket of Gene Naked running around his kitchen at 7 am. http://s157.photobucket.com/albums/t70/studhud/ LTR Dave
Just looked at the pics... wish I had made it there. Gene is the man!! How many people will be doing what he does when they are in their 70's + ????
Thanks for putting up the pics, Dave. Thanks for catching the one with me 'n Gene wheeling the tail pan. Good Times... Cant wait to make it back down. Talked to Jimmy this morning and it sounds like they're coming to Modesto for the Graffiti show on Father's Day.
Thanks for sharing all. Did everyone do work on project, or was it more of just watch the Master at work? Either way, you will never forget that time.
Tuck, Mark X, Billie Jo and myself had the opportunity to have supper with Gene last summer. Fantastic man. He's full of all kinds of wisdom...I'm sure his "shop class" was just as wonderful... -Jolene
Thanks for posting the pictures. A friend and I were there, but we didn't take any pictures. I was the guy who had the honor of holding the torch for Gene when he was doing the heat shrinking on the hudson (I think) quater panel. Well worth the time and money, I learned a ton. I hope I can be as mentally sharp and in as good of shape as he is at 79. I'd never guess he is that old. It really was great spending time with him.
This is the key to most success.Too many people today think they know it all."WHEN YOU KNOW IT ALL,YOU NEVER LEARN ANYTHING NEW" Thanks for sharing your experience, what a master to learn from.
