Just my two cents but, I like heavy flake and lots of lettering on race cars. Kinda like the old Stone, Woods, and Cook g***er. I like the flake and the fact it says the names of people who built it. By the way killer Altered did you build it or did someone else? I met some guys today at the track who in his own words "just pay then play,....we just play". Made me sick

Chartruese and Lavender with about 2" wide Red seperation stripes and gold leaf lettering, "shadowed" with Brilliant Blue.

    Not kidding.

  8. Metalflake it in some eye-searing obnoxious bright color like chartreuse or teal or ruby red. Think about the little kids up in the grandstands watching you race, and they'll really be rooting for you if you have a cool dazzling "hot wheels" sort of glittery or iridescent paint job. White would be kind of dull from way up in the grandstands with concrete as a backdrop.

  9. Couple of questions first...
    Wheels...Are you keeping them?
Tires....do you need that much rubber?

Strange, but I actually think this could be pretty cool. I like the big wide stripes idea... Nanookish. Colors need to be loud, vicious, jarring, vibrating. Hell, that motor is tough enough to pull off pink if you wanted to. Gold leaf lettering a must though.

Grille insert could have a yet to be determined "FlatDog Racing" logo painted on it.

Wheels are tires are staying for now. They are on car and roll .We are new to this .We are staying with white color so we don't have to repaint whole car.More interested in dressing up white car with some sort of scallops.

SoCal red scallops, but smaller so you can fit more than half a scallop since it's a T...
Then, paint the tarp tan or black with snap fasteners so it looks like an actual tarp and the top edge of the T body is visible.
And paint the driver's brain bucket so it looks like a '50's Lodge crash helmet with cloth side flaps...

Can you please define a SoCal scallop? I feel as if I should know this.

First off, I want to paint it, cuz this is gonna be awesome.

White base with about 5lbs of alabone flakes over it. Ruby red scallops (either attatched or 2 inch stripes like what was mentioned, horrizontal of course) with a sickening amount of red flake over that. Gold leaf shop name, etc. Do the helmet to match. Hotwheels meets the 1960s. KILLER!

ifn yer determined to stay with white, consider BRIGHT blue scallops. i mean REALLY BRIGHT blue. like the KYSO (knock your sox off) blue that victory motorcycles had (maybe still has?) or the blue on the SW&C Willys. completely blue firewall and about 3" or so back onto the body before splitting into the scallops.

I too never lost my taste for big flakes in paint and the diner upholstery. I dig the red scallops over white (with rainbow flake in both)!!!

Don't know if you've named the car but you could use the natural shape of the rear wheelwell to form the back part of an upper case 'T' and use paint (heavy metalflake) to make the front part...follow that?

Then you could throw a name on there, Mister, Flat, Cup 'o, or something else to make a whimsical name for your race car. Nice car, BTW...

Scallops on a drag car NO. You want white back ground. Use that then add blue or gold or red panels and some lace paint. That would look good.

Yeah, I think that they are boring and done to death, but "safe" in an "its the early 90's everyone who doesn't know anything is going to like me way, and i might as well have a TPI V6 with sprint car headers".

  22. Some fogged panels, in light metalic blue maybe, making sure to simulate the door edges. Then give it a "name" in good ole' black & white 1-shot
