A good buddy of mine had his shop broken into last night, and had a built Pontiac 400ci motor w/ turbo 400 trans. stolen out of his Model A. This moter has a 2/4 intake, alum Hoffmann heads, custom headers, finned valve covers w/ spacers to clear the roller rockers, and lots of custom brakets. There 's a reward for any reliable info leading to the motor. He's going to give me all the details on the motor, and every thing that was stolen, and I'll post them A.S.A.P. If ya hear of anyone tryin to get rid of high performance Pontiac stuff let me know. By the way, the break in happened in New Braunfels TX., so any Hambers in this area keep your eyes and ears open, so we can catch the Fu**ers who did this.

It's someone who knew it was there. Someone that's been in that shop. That's why I freak out if a stranger comes to my private shop. Strangers aren't welcome at all! What do you guys do when somebody just "pops in" and appears out of nowhere?

Yea we're pretty sure it's someone who's been there, and you can rest ***ured that he's checking them. He's offering a $1,000.00 REWARD for info leading to it's safe return. He's only got home owners insurance, but he doesn't know if it will cover shop stuff.

Pontiac stuff should be fairly hard to turn with out standing out in the sbc world. Of course, I will be on the look out.
Thieves .... only one way to deal with them if caught in the act!

I ***ume you filed a police report, and that you'll update it with numbers and pictures...if there's no police report to refer to and you actually find the stuff at a fleamarket, local police really can't do anything--and even a richly deserved homicide would probably not be a good career move.
There's only a limited number of people around with any interest in Pontiacs--see if you can meet with any local GTO type clubs and p*** out reward and contact info liberally. The community of possible buyers is small and connected, for the engine at least.
Be optimistic and persistent...sometimes things actually work out. My parents just had their faithful '96 Chevy police car stolen--and the cops got it back, at least most of it, in three days.

I'll be looking as well. Checking craigslist too and we should also look out at Pate.

Those heads alone are a rare bird...heavily modded Edelbrocks.

this is more than a one man operation for sure- those motors weigh a TON and even with a hoist avalible, it's a sonofa***** to scoot one around.

this was for sure a team effort with a singular ***hole in its center.

I will keep an eye on the musclecar scene...any chance it had any identifying marks on the heads? Kaufmann is usually pretty good about stamping info on them.

Police report was filed, and the cops dusted for prints too. They actually got a few he said. He's checking with a few Pontiac sites and with some of the local car clubs. We also got scouts going to Pate, just incase they try to get rid of it there. The guy's really persistant, and reward posters have been posted at just about every auto /car related place of business around here. Hopefully someone will slip up and start runing there mouth about it, and then we'll get em.

Thanks again to everyone, for all the advise, concern, and help.

I just posted the whole thing on Texas Racing Scene and they reach from San Antone to Austin, so they've promised to keep an eye out as well. Also, posted on the Houston Pontiac forum. We'll catch these ****ers.

    :) Good News!!
From what I understand, the thief has been captured & charged! The stolen items have been recovered!

Score one for the good guys.... this message board & other connections were apparently instrumental in the capture of the crook.
