I know - I know, Byod bla-bla bla. But Did the show get cancelled. Hasn't been on in what over a month?

 

I was wondering that too. I hate the show but get some good fab techniques from it.

Hey at least it's a show about cars. We don't get SPEED, and Saturdays are always to bizy to catch Spike. So It's either The biker boys or Boyd.

 

i think they moved it from the discovery channel to tlc along with american chopper but they should just cancel them both there nothing but a soap opra with some welding

Well from what i heard from a neighbor in they same complex that his shop is in ,is that he is going to face some time somthing about registration on fibergl*** bodies.

LOL just wondering why does everyone bash any rod or car show thats on tv? Im happy for the guys that made it to the big time and now are on tv it means they do something right. I know most peopel say I would never sell out but yes everyone would if the $$$ was the right amount.


So whats the big deal? Why does everyone hate these guys?

Just kidding. I think it's just the Hollywood thing. They take hours of tape, and condense it down to 15 minutes per episode, and the result is not anything a real car nut can use.

 

Reasons why I don't like show...
1) To much drama, not like spikes do it yourself format.
2) Trailor Queens, I mean not to bash trailor queen, they are nice to wish upon, but thats all he makes.
3) My favorite painter and his buddy (the only funny/cool guys on there) left the show to go with chip foose or somthing.
4) Wierd deadline dates.
5) Boyds lazy ***.

 

All good reasons.

BOYD owes money to everyone I know, he's a crook. One day the State of Calif will bust him for registering cars as original Fords (for which they are not naything close), to avoid smog laws.....he's a crook!!

 

The date on that is 2004.Old news!!!Let's get back to HAMB material,without drama.

Yeah, what skajaquada posted. I don't know him so I don't hate him, I just have no respect for his work and I generally respect anyone that can build a car even if I don't care for it.

He takes really nice vintage pieces and turns them into trailered billboards. There were a few interesting earlier episodes but after that when I tried to watch it all I could say was "damn, leave that car alone".

Same with Overhaulin. Pulling the original 283 out of a Vette to drop in a new crate 350. Bah, anyone can do that.
At least Foose does on occasion repair a rusted out car that someone could remove the 22 inch wheels and nasty seats.

 

I like the American Hot Rod TV show. Do all of you that hate it, watch it? ....kinda like all of the Ebay haters that surf Ebay everyday?

 

They are all ok to watch and entertaining in their own way, but the bad guy boss and the employees that hate each other, and the tired little jokes and quips I for one can do without. Frankly cut the **** and personalities and show the cars more. I don't want to see a middle aged man trying to be to cool to be there. I want to see old shiny kustoms and cool hot rods. thank you very much that felt good. Take care, Rags

 

You'd understand if you actually met him, or saw how he and Duane run that shop...
Plus, he just has zero respect for (or knowledge about) the cars, he's only a businessman. He purposely searches out very nice cars that really need nothing at all to cut up into his ridiculous creations...

Have you guys seen the commercial for Magna flow with the '59? There is a "scene" in the commercial where Boyd is sanding a fender with a longboard, except A. he is clean B. he does it so gingerly it's hilarious C. i don't think the board has any sandpaper. It's a riot! Beautifully shot, but it is a freakin' riot.

 

That's the best thing i've seen yet, and i've seen alot. Oh yea and to stay on topic I respect Duane for not beating boyd to death.....yet.

 

So how much hate mail can I get for this? What do you hate the most Boyd or the Dallas Cowboys?

I'm just glad none of the shows are about traditional rods. Then every **** with a checkbook would be paying people like Boyd to "make one look like that".

The funniest episode that I saw , as well as one of the last ones I saw, was the "rat rod contest" between Boyd and that kid, Blue Bear. The kid was basically trying to build an old school rod and Boyd kept poking his nose in and telling him how unsafe his build was ,blah blah blah. In the end the kid had a decent looking little ride and Boyd had a Boyd version of a rat rod. His wife threw on a poodle skirt and they acted like the arrogant *** monkeys that they really are.

Now, I've fogotten what my point was supposed to be.

Foose is a talented guy. Like his rides or not (and most of them aren't my thing), he knows how to design a car and he has a very unique vision. Besides, he seems like a pretty genuine dude.
