The One Piece At A Time Caddy was built by Cadilac or atleast Cadilac employees with Caddys blessing and presented to JC as a gift.I forget the exact details but Cadilac was fully aware of the build and involved with it in some way

I have never read anything that would verifiy that. In fact JC says in one of his books it was given to him by a fan...and that he was reluctant to accept it. See my link below which backs this up.

From what I researched, GM had nothing to do with it. It was built by an individual, Bill Patch (ironically) and presented by him to JC as a gift.

    Here is the story:

  5. That was great Kirk. Always loved Johnny Cash, cause he was one of my dads favorites. It's funny,my dad marked us in the hallway door jam with the dates and ages. I did the same thing with my two boys.

    61 Chevy...very distasteful. Your a dick!

I seen that car last summer. I live about 15 minutes from that place. It's worth going through.

I'm glad someone posted the "Psycho Billy Caddillac" I was at the Horse magazine Smoke out show and Billy Lane was there with that hubless pile of parts. He called it the "Psycho Billy Caddillac" He said the name just came to him because the bike and builder was a total psycho and it drove like a Caddillac. I brought up the fact that Johnny Cash used that in a song when Mr. Lane was probably in grade school. The pile of "Star Struck Rubbies" around him said no Billy wouldn't rip anybody off. I just shook my head and walked away. I wanted to have a question answered on how a motorcycle with about 20 teeth on the front sprocket and about 200 teeth on the back could do over 3 mph at about 6,000rpm's, but they wouldn't have gotten that either. They were busy picking up the spent cans of Budweiser that Lane were throwing on the ground to be autographed.

It may be a sensless rant, but I feel better now, Don

...always had a problem with the "one tail fin", because he started in '49. Now I've got it -- I'm a car guy since 1954, but I didn't know anyone had actually built this. It's obviously just for show, but someone with design talent HAD to be behind it. Thanks for the post.
