Not much to show in construction-I needed some mufflers for the Bike Im buildin and I dont see any that were lookin like I thought they shouls,so I made these. they are kinda LOUD -[as I like em!!] The head pipes are the stock vulcan 800 with stainless heat shields,But the stock mufflers wer as big as a stovepipe and about three feet long -with a hole the size of a quarter at the rear! I wanted a shorty muffler but all I found were either balogna sliced at 45 degrees of tapered tips. I wanted a big diameter but a pencil[rolled tip the same size as the pipe. these are just a pair of exhaust extension tips from the auto parts store.....with a shortened aftermarket baffle from JIREH cycles .com. The tips were 9" long and 2-1/4"diam- and the baffles were cut to same length. the baffle is then welded to head pips and the tips are slipped over them and tacked top and bottom at both ends. I wish I had found some stainless tips and [may replace em if I do]..... later. These were chrome plated. the total cost was:9.99 for the two tips and 16.00 for the 2 baffles. SO for a grand total of about $26 I have a set of"mufflers" that I like!
I dont have a lot of progress to share Fred....its kinda movin at a snails pace!Ill try after tomorrow[I'll be gone] to post a pic or two.
