I've got 2 Model A (AA) trucks in a 14' wide space. My garage is 18' wide, but I've got at least 2' of shelving and storage on either side. They're so close together that you cannot walk down one side or between them. I feel yer pain. I'm dreaming of that house we're going to buy in the future where I can have a 30x50 shop!
put the pinball in the living room where it belongs.... but other than that, I can' offer any help, just sympathy. And it doesn't get any better when you get more garage space, we have 10 cars in the two garages and still not much room to work!
That'll be nice (30x50). I dreaming of a two car garage at this point. And I'm sure if I had a two car I'll need a three and so on and so on...
I am in the same boat. I have about a 1.5 car garage. 20 yrs. ago I built a small barn/shed in the back yard for things like engine crane, etc. that I don't use regularaly. It helps, but now thats full of **** too! Help!!!
And that pinball is heavy. Living room is three floors up. Plus just to get in I have to roll out My sand cabinet and gantry..
the back of the pinball comes off, you know...just unplug the 3 or 4 cables, and take out the 4 bolts. makes it a lot easier to move up stairs! (yes, I've done it)
Doesn't really matter how big you build, you'll "expand to fill your available space"...I think it's a physics thing or something...I have a four car, 24 X 46 shop/garage and I still have to walk sideways between stuff!
This is true, room is always an issue. Put bigger tools on wheels, get stuff of the ground and hung up will help. I've had smaller garages and now have bigger garages and pole structures. I just acquire more treasures.
I'll add what;s asaid above... When I lived "in the city" with a small 2 car garage, I was able to keep my projects truck, welder, small lathe, tools, compressor and my DD Camaro inside... Fast foward a few years (about 6), I have a 22x36 built in front of a 18x24...have a 20 x 60 barn...acess to more space too...all full and I can't walk through anythnig in a straight line. Keep is small, one project at a time...otherwise you'll go nuts
Nice little hole...lol...sorry for the pun......I have found that those industrial shelves work wonders for space saving. Not the BS shelving you would normally see being offered up in th emens stores, but the very same shelving they use for their inventories and wares. That industrial shelving can be had for cheap, and actually is strong enough to hold engines, welders, compresors, heating units, anything you can think of, off the floor. You can set it up on two walls in your garage and have plenty of floor space to work. Good luck to all of you with limited floor space, I found it works perfact and gives me more then enough. Maximo
wow your 1 car garage is huge! let me find a pic of my car in my military base housing garage. working on the p***enger side I actually lean against the wall.
I too feel your pain! I moved out of a full 80X144 that had space for 52 cars into a 26X55 with room for 4 cars if I'd throw all my good stuff away! More space = More ****! there is no way to win on the flip side every car I've ever built sat in one space till it was finished. less space = fewer projects = more focus and earlier completions
take the hemi apart and reasemble it in the living room where it belongs ! it will complement the pinball machine ? wall standards screwed to the studs , with shelves above your head, dont take any floor space, home depot!
Homer: Hmm. I wonder why he's so eager to go to the garage? Moe: The "garage"? Hey fellas, the "garage"! Well, ooh la di da, Mr. French Man. Homer: Well what do you call it? Moe: A car hole!
