It feels like I just came out of a dream. Project Pics

So here is how it went down, The producers of the show Rides are making another show called Overhaulin' the premise of the show is they steal somebody’s car, trick it out in seven days and return it to them all the while jerking their chain with the cops, insurance fraud, or some other type of hoax to make them believe there car is gone for good. The sixth episode was filmed at my place of employment and I was lucky enough to be on the crew that did the build. The car is defiantly NOT a traditional car by any stretch of the imagination but I though you guys would like to see what we did in seven days. The build crew included Chip Foose, his head fabricator Bryan Fuller, Troy Trepanier and one of his employees Levi Green and about 35 other people, looking back it probably would have been better to have about 10 less people. The before picture is not the actual car, but it is the same model (4 door) and about the same condition, I borrowed the picture from someone on the web but I think he's a HAMBer. The only reason i don't have a before picture is because they actually stole the car about an hour before we tore it apart and i didn't get a chance.

we used a 51 Merc back glass for the windshield. It will be replaced with a custom made piece but time didn't allow for that yet, And custom glass is kind of spendy about 4 grand

 

Cool but cruel idea for a show, i hate reality tv but wouldnt mind seeing that.
hope he lives in a sunny place, I assume no top on that windscreen, it looks great though.

 

If this is for real I wish they would come steal mine!


That car looks a lot like Titus's 56.

 

Headlights look awesome...Just tunneled with new frenched rings?

we'll Foose designed both, he said Titus kept calling and wanting to know our progress don't know if he ever told him. They are pretty good friends and wants to keep it that way so i hope Titus doesn't get upset we did this in seven days and his took over three years!

 

Hope that wasn't the guy's (girl's?) daily driver!

I'd be ropeable if someone knocked off my car and bullshitted me for 7 days!!

Besides the fact I ain't got anything else to drive....Maybe they could STEAL my unstarted project and finish it though!

That is an impressive amount of work for such a short time.
But if somebody would hyjack my car and put his mark on it, there would be a problem...
A big problem with a lot of censor bleeps at the end of the hour show...

 

this car was not someones daily driver but we got to see some of the other episodes and they have taken peoples only car, but someone in their family was in on it.

 

The new series starts airing on the 13th and this episode will air May 18th on TLC

 

What happens if the guy doesn't want a high zoot streetrod when he gets "his" car back? Did they talk to someone to find out what his plans were for the car?
I guess I wouldn't be TOO pissed if they stole my Ford and did this type of thing. I'd Barrett Jackson the fucker in January and buy 10 more!

I would guess that there was over sixty thousand bucks in parts donated to this project and the fact that Chip and Troy were involved would increase it's value as well. After getting to work with them all week i can honestly say that they both deserve all the fame and money they get for what they do. They worked as hard or harder than everyone there and i'm not talking about giving out orders and making sure everything was getting done, they both worked thier asses off. Oh yea we went thru about $1300 in Red Bull(at cost)

 

That is amazing...start to finish in 7 days??? None of that 'finish it rough' then have it detailed out before paint then polished? Looks like it will be a good show, better than Rides at least. The previews look good...

You really ought to call MTV- "PIMP MY RIDE" I'm sure once they were done with it, it would have a 52" HDTV in the back with bean bags......

That would be fine with me! Hell, I'd settle for a.c. and my doors and windshield not leaking in the rain! If they wanted to put a nice pearl-tangerine paint job on it, while they were at it, I wouldn't bitch either. You fix the EFC?

 

The car was 95% done when we did the reveal, i feel bad for the upholstery team, they never really got the car. We didn't have the body out of the booth until 10pm Thursday and the car had to be finished by 3pm friday. There are a handfull of things that need to be finished rear upholstery side panels, air cleaner, shift linkage (works but not 100%), allignment rebufff and restripe.

Thats exactly what I thought when I saw the finished project. Not my style by any stretch but looks very nice, I think it's a fucked up idea of a show because I have had a bike stolen and I was reay to kill the basterd I thought did it.

Are they accepting applications?

 

One victim on another show was so sure the insurance company was going to cover the cost of the car he went out and got another one.

 

If somebody took my rod and turned it into a flash goldchainer posemobile trailorqueen I'd be out to lynch that very somebody!

If they took my daily driver, then I'd sell it soon as I got it back, and buy another old daily driver. Then spend the spare money.

 

Uh, yeah.....I got this car? It's sitting in a cornfield in Mondaimin, Iowa? If it disappeared for a week, I promise I wouldnt' turn it in as stolen...unless you wanted me to.

 

If somebody did that to MY car, I'd cut their fuckin' nuts off!!!
