I couldn't be more excited...my first hot rod is well underway thanks to a great friend and about 4 days of late nights! Matt Brekke, 34cpe5w, came out from IL last Sunday on a combined business trip/ch***is building 'vacation' and we went from a bare frame to a set up suspension in a very short time. I'm convinced that otherwise this would have taken me a couple of months of the same long nights. After lots of time spent on the phone figuring out what the goal was and what parts to order we made some great progress...Matt hit the nail on the head when he said by the time he left I'd have a rolling ch***is. If it weren't for the lack of mock-up kingpins and tires, that's what would be shown in the pictures. The pictures are nothing great here, but they help sum up what we got accomplished in the last week. I'll give a couple of details since it was hard to take decent pictures in the barn stall: '34 pickup frame 4" C.E. dropped axle, reverse-eye spring approx. 2.5" drop out of the crossmember fat bones bronco 9" rear P&J ladder bars/crossmember P&J spring mounts for stock rear spring/crossmember Planning on 550-16's front, 700-16's rear for a nice rake without too crazy of a size difference...more in keeping with a truck I feel So that's it...like I say I'll have better pictures coming. I'll get the frame outside and up on wheels and set the cab on and what not for mock up. Thanks Matt for your patience and teaching me so much!
As I have always said, that's what its all about. Keep us updated on the progres Looking good so far.
Looks real good, keep it up while you've got momentum on your side. You'd be surprised how quick it comes together when you stick w/ a tentative schedule. Keep up the good work. Will be looking for the updated pics next time I'm on.
Thanks for the encouraging words guys...I appreciate it. I'll post some more pics once I get the tires on the wheels and bolted up...and the cab chopped and set on and what not. I'm definitely going to try to keep momentum on my side so I don't get bogged down. It was great having Matt here because he knew just what to do to keep things moving whereas I would have had to step back for awhile before pulling the trigger and making a decision. Ha...druss as far as the welder's go that's pretty funny you noticed that. One's the plasma and then there are actually two mig welders...another friend and I have a metalwork business and decided it was time to upgrade...Matt brought the new 210 out, too, cuz he's an awesome guy and got a great deal! Thanks again for the feedback, fellas.
Don't let me take all the credit, you had very good insight and were my "checks & balances" during the process. It was a great time though! Matt
