To those that dont like clubs, where would our hobby be without one.. Like of how many shows would never have gotten off the ground. No LA Roadster Show.. plus so many more..

there is a place for clubs as there is a place for loners

Well, there are many different types of clubs, you need to decide which one you want to be in.

There are the ones with lots of meetings and responsibilities, budgets and club dues (usually called the ______ ______ Street Rod ***ociation.)

There are informal clubs, no members no dues, everyone is the Prez. But with a cool logo that makes wannabes ask all the time how they can get one.

There are also outlaw clubs which break the law and have "old Ladies" instead of girlfriends. Be careful though, my uncle went to prison for 6 years for being in one of these. (no lie)

Then there are clubs that merely attempt to enhance social status, which try to make themselves look like the outlaw type but really aren't.

My suggestion is: help guys when they need it, be honest, share your beer and you driveway (not necessarily tools) be interested in other peoples project not just your own, and clubs will come to you.

  8. Naw, them ther city folk are strange:rolleyes:

  9. Here in New Zealand, you have to be in a club for minimum 1 year in order to get an exemption to be able to run fenderless. No exemption makes you liable for prosecution by the law.

I was in a local club for about 3 years. After a while our president got to thinking he was God, Wally Parks, and Boyd Coddington all rolled into one. When he started telling us which cruise nights we could and could NOT go to, and where we could and could NOT wear club shirts and jackets, I hit the road. That ****s not fun.
