There's a guy with a 80's Camaro that shows up at cruise nights, with about 20 trophys from twenty years ago. It's called "Flash Gordon". He's a joke! Next time I see it i'll get some pic's. Maybe SoCalCarCulture has a pic.
Hey.. Reminds me of something that happened at a car show. Show was to raise $$ for a kids thing so me and a few other hot rodders went. My buddy won best of show with a bad ass 31 Ford coupe. He was given the award and as he turned around this little kid 8 ish was clap'n like hell and cheer'n.. My buddy leans over to the kid, saz something to him and gives him the award! I ask'd the guy who the kid was... "no idea, but he liked my car" Now that waz class... Pontiac Slim
Trophy spam! They remind me of one of those shrines you see on the side of the road where someone got killed.
The black top cruisers have some nice cars and cool people, but man im glad that hot rod blitz black or what ever its called didn't work out for them when they tried to paint it satin black instead of that nice super gloss black on a straight body
Thanks for the pic some are nice cars. Don't you just love those open shows where the guys show up in a late model Mazda with stick on graphics from the Zone?
I took my shoebox to a show, right after I bought it. Wasn't there for a trophy. Been to the show many times,as a spectator. Had the ONLY custom at the show. The award for the "Best Custom"went to a blown '34 Ford Highboy. I went WTF! Oh well, wasn't there for a trophy anyways. Great story Slim.
The pictures of cars that you call bad may not be to your liking or others who say they, the owners, are clueless, but hopefully they are enjoying their part of the car hobby. You have to admit that they didn't put their pictures on this forum, you did. I guess it was just to take shots at them and call them clueless. Walk past them if you don't like them, and let them enjoy the show. In the old days we had guys with cars we didn't like and we also picked fun and called them squirrels and then we grew up.
Grew up? You know what's funny. I took my Merc to an all Ford show and the "restore or else" older guys bashed the hell out of me! It was really funny. I didn't let it bother me,just walked up and said hi. They didn't know it was my car.Suddenly it changed to,"how did you do this, how did you do that?" They were cool after I asked them to show me their cars. Beautiful restored cars of course.
actually, that kat is bob carducci, original owner of the Fabian Continental Full kustom 48 chevy convertible from brooklyn, a car with lots of history that currently being restored by Gary Disco from northern jersey...so i'd say he has some kind of of clue...the man just likes elaborate show set ups, its what he did during his indoor show days...kick ass guy....
Question. How small does your penis have to be to bring out all your trophys to a car show to make yourself feel better?
I should have asked the guy who had a setup like that at a local cruise in last week. Not a car show, but a little cruise in at a local burger joint. The guy set up a dozen trophies and one of those big story boards with his car specs etc. on it.
I hear you can buy trophies by volume at a fairly reasonable price. That'll be my only trophies;...the ones I buy. (...but then I'll have no reason to sit in my lawn chair season after season and collect them from locals here!)
Live and let live!!! Us trad. dudes don't think the way some do. But at least those other folks are still saving older iron. Plus if we were all the coolest, it might get boring. Pride in your ride ain't all bad. The award story was the best, that young-un may have been treated to the nicest thing ever to happen in his life, good on ya bro._Sololobo
I have been to many car shows and seen some cars displayed in that manner. They are usually the least desireable cars there. I am taking a fine 69 Camaro or a 62 Impala 409 convertible to shows and competition is tough. The 69 Cadillac would be hard pressed to win anything even if it was show room quality.
