i have a set of moon elecronic gauges with the sending units. i pulled them out of another car and i dont have the wiring instructions. looking at the back of the gauge there is a black and white wire at the top of each for the light. on the bottom from left to right there is a red wire on the left, a black wire in the middle, and a red wire on the right. both gauges are the same way. i have a temp gauge and a oil pressure gauge. my question is does anyone know what wire goes to the power and which one goes to the sending unit. i just got finished putting a fresh block in the truck and dont want to damage anything. we still need to break in the cam and all so i want to be able to monitor the oil pressure. any help would be appreciated. thanks bubbacabra
If I'm not mistaken,Auto Meter makes the guages for Moon.Either go to Auto meter's web site and down load wiring diagrams (Autometer.com) or call Moon and get them to send you e-mail or snail mail wiring diagrams. Thats what I would try first. Chuck Fish
Red and black for the light are obvious. For the gauge, there should be a Power (red) Sender (probably the other red) Ground (black) They may be labeled + for power S for signal and the 3 dashes for ground. If you can't get it to work I can probably scare some mechanical gauges in the short term. TZ
Blubah, I think I still have the wireing diagrams at home for my guages. I bet moon would Fax you the diagrams also.
Bubb, Cl***ic gauges make the Moon instruments. If you can wait till I get off work tonight I'll get the wiring diagram out of the garage and either post it or e-mail it to you...no time now.
Moon gauges were made by 2 different companies (3 if you count the Moon gauges from the 60's). So be careful which ones you have and make sure you get the correct instructions. I think the guys who say they have Autometers and Cl***ics are both right. alchemy
Bubb, for the temperature gauge you will need the sender...mount it in the manifold near the thermostat housing. The oil pressure gauge will also need the sender..it mounts in the rear of the manifold. This diagram is for the cl***ic version of the moon gauges...make sure what manufacturer made your gauges.Hope this helps 'ya out. Gotta go...I'm late!!!
here ya go........ the light wires are as follows...black is the ground, white is 12volt for the light. easy enough. on the gauge wiring, all autometer moon gauges have a 3 pin barrier strip. the center is ground. on the gauge housing, you will find a small circle stamped into the plastic. usually above the barrier strip. it will have an "I" above one terminal, this one is for ignition. a "G" for ground. and an"S" it's for the sending unit. this should get ya going. matt
Bubbaluv, Did you get the motor together? Still need the water pump? Let me know brotherman! monkster
Hey guys, bubba here. got the gauges wired up and we fired her up. we were breaking in the cam and the motor started to get hot so we shut her down. gonna let her kool off and get back at it. thanks for the help, bubba
