What could the reserve possibly be on this car??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by kaydub, Apr 30, 2007.

  1. I was gonna say around 200K. Only because alot of the guys who look for cars like this buy into history, even if it's misrepresented. Is a really nice looking car though. Would like to see what it used to look like, before the boob job. If it has a history, then i'm sure there's pic's out there somewhere.

This car is valuable because where high-zoot rodding meets top of the line restoring at Pebble Beach, this car could be a high profile winner if restored to its original 6 cyl past.
Original early rods with high quality, real history and documentation, and interesting rare features are really quite scarce--kinda like Duesenbergs. As a streetrod, in its current configuration, it probably isn't nearly as valuable.

I think the Ardun is gonna be the surplus part when the dust settles...not a very common situation, that.

    Was George a tool too???

I'll answer the question - I'd say $195'000 reserve. Sell off the Ardun and piano looking dashboard and it'd only owe you $150'000. Bargain!

Come on Bruce.......broke with a Deuce?

Wouldn't matter if it was the Pierson Brothers coupe or the Hirrohatta Merc, having a Deuce gets you into THAT club.

    Money should be no object.

P.S Are you going to LARS? PM me if you are..

Thats my father's old '33. He was the one with the 12 port engines in the chassis. See the post about killer GMC engines near here.

Briefly, the reason that there is an Ardun in the car is that there were no Wayne engines available to the second owner. The third owner, the seller, bought a Wayne Chevy for a transplant. You can see that engine in the photos. He also had all the pieces, firewall, dash, etc. my father had made. His intention was a restoration back to my father's ownership period.

Why is the car for sale? I don't know.

Thanks for the explanation for the Ardun, my gut feeling was someone had changed it to what he wanted with no regard to the car's history, sounds like that was not the case. I guess if you didn't have a Wayne an Ardun isn't a bad 2nd choice! Money issues aside, I hope whoever ponys up the bucks does it with the attentions of putting it back to it's historic form.

Why change anything on a historical car?

That would be like putting slotted mags on the Munster Coach.......

  14. Looks like a car my neighbor built a few years ago for his landlord. It sold at Barret's around 3(?) yrs ago for $145,000.00

That adds up-- $145k plus the 8% buyer's premium = the $156,600 shown on their website.

    Groucho,

Who is your neighbor? Maybe we run in the same circles, different sides.
