No, not your drive to a park and sit behind your car kinda cruise. This an actual driving event.

Meet at my house on Saturday morning anytime after 8:30am. We are leaving promptly at 9:00am. We will be gone all day, drive approx 150 miles with 4 planned stops. You will need money if you plan on eating and/or refueling your car.:D

Every stop will be a surprise. The first stop is something I've been looking forward to for months once I got an invite to bring some HAMB friends out. I've yet to ever visit the place nor did I even know it exisited till just recently. Sounded very cool when I was told about it.

You won't be disappointed with the place I picked out for lunch or the 3rd stop. Depending on the time, I hope we get the 4th stop in. The first 10 miles will be freeway but after that we'll be on secondary and side roads as much as possible.

Everyone welcome, hot rods, customs, muscle cars, HAMB and non-HAMB friends alike. If you must bring a daily driver, you can pull up the rear of the pack.

Two of the places would like a rough idea on how many so they can plan accordingly. So if your going to join us please say so by Friday noon so I can call them and let them know.

Meet at my place for 9am departure

If I was a few miles closer to you I'd be doing a "Mystery Cruise" in SoCal.:D

We'll cruise "together" on Friday nite in Paso.;)

  4. Thanks for a neat idea Denise! I think we will dust off the T or the 54, heck maybe both and invite a few pals to do something similar!

I'm in. Don't know what car to bring, but I'm in. I'm so sick of being such a non-participator...ugh. I'll bring the Impala...yeah, that's the ticket! Loud pipes and smokey burnouts...plus-- a for sale sign.

    See you PROMPT-ly before 9.

I'll try to get Marc involved...you know...Stickylifter...with the HAMBchop...his car is more driveable than mine at the moment...

:D Alittle further west then I was planning on takin the fellows:D

Weather forecast for Saturday is a beautiful, sunny and perfect 70 degrees. This will be the third such perfect weather weekend in the Metro Detroit area in a row. We have truely been blessed lately.

and for the couple of people that PM'd me asking why I hadn't planned this further in advance, it was because I was waiting for the weather forecast to make sure it was going to be decent enough. After all, we do live in Michigan and it's springtime.

I know about the weather. I just spent 4 hours flying the 1 hour 37 minute flight from Atlanta to Detroit. We had to fly AROUND Chicago, to Flint, then south to Detroit to avoid the storms. They kept saying 'We are pretty confident we have enough fuel.'

I wasn't confident when he dropped us on final approach like a hot potato and we went from above the cloud cover to above the trees in about a minute that felt like 10 seconds!

Any time you can reuse the plane, its a good landing...

    Count me in...sounds like fun.

I guess that I'd better get my ass in the barn and see if the truck will start, after sitting all winter. Now that the driveway isn't a muddy mess, it's time to roll.

    See ya Saturday.

I understand about not having your car ready. BilletProof is usually the "start" of things around these parts. We're going to miss you guys and I will post photos.;)

I drove the whole route last nite after work. It's going to take every bit of 8 hours to do with the planned stops. Actually two more stops are added now. One place is opening up their doors special for us when they heard we were going to be doing this. (Thanks Guy!)

I added another very cool spot (actually a hot as HELL place ;))to stop and take a quick break for a refreshment and potty break because the last leg was too long without another stop. Group shot here should be fun.

Lots of rolling, two lane farm and forest areas for the whole last half. Make sure your fill up with gas BEFORE you arrive at my place. I'll check with everyone after stop 4 to see if anyone needs to stop and fill up at that point.

Six stops total now and don't plan on being back to the Metro Detroit area till around 5 or 6pm. There will be a point, after stop 5 where you can break away and hit the highway for a quicker trip home if you need too.

Coffee and donuts will be available at our first stop so plan accordingly. Lunch stop approx 12pm

  24. Denise,

Wanted to know if the trip planned is kid friendly? I plan to go but want to bring my daughter. Thanks for planning this.

Yes, it's a kid friendly event especially since your daughter has grown up around hot rods and knows how to look with her eyes. The 5th stop is REALLY kid friendly and will probably be her most favorite.:D

I'm looking forward to seeing you and your whole family.

  26. And for those who go on the cruise and do not want the party to stop the Ypsi area Street Rods kick off party is Sat. Nite in Historic Depot Town in Ypsilanti. Usually goes from 6ish to 9ish...

and the show in the park there in Depot Town this Sunday is always a great time. With Sundays weather forecasted to be as perfect as perfect can get the place will be packed. I'm heading there Sunday morning then to Bakers in Milford for their first cruz nite of the season. Will be a busy hot rod weekend for sure.

All you GMBs. Don't forget the thrash in Bay City at Luck77's shop on Sunday. The kid wants to get his FIRST hot rod ready for Billetproof. We also need to do another Birch Run breakfast soon. They are always fun. Have fun Saturday.
