Ya not I real one... a clear plastic model- Looks to be pretty old, maybe 60's? Can anyone identify it for me? Who made it? Year?

It's got a working battery powered starter, and little light bulbs for spark plugs.

  2. "Visible V-8" I built one about 25-30 years ago. I think they still make those kits.

That would be the Visible V8. I have a kit still in the box hiding in the closet, bought new sometime in the 70's.

Yup, they seem to make another run of them every now and then. 60's to early 70's. Built several of them when I was younger.
Revell made a Chevy and Testors made a 426 Hemi if I remember right.

I have one also. Revell made them with battery power and lights the lit up as spark plugs. Later they made one that was hand craked. You can pick them up at garage sales for about $5.

  8. I feel special, I had one like that AND I had a rotary (****el) engine model that was fun.

I believe Renwal was original maker, somewhere around 1960. Several others have kept it in production over the years. There are other transparent big engine models...anyone have pics??
They are usually found 10% ***embled in a box after the original kid got started a bit and then realized that there were 8 or 16 repitions of all the bits he had to do...
There was a Slant Six a ****el, a four cylinder (Pinto??)...any others??

The early 60's not built in the box goes for around $100. I'm not sure how you date them.

Hawk has some newer ones out right now at Wal-Mart.

The original complete ch***is bring pretty good money.

That's the Chevy style I believe. Did you also get the little book with it that explains how a 4 stroke engine works?

The newer kits are hand crank and do not have the battery starter and flashing plug lights. Goes well with a phantom mustang kit BTW.

The ch***is is big $$$$, I found one unbuilt two years ago at the Springfiled swat meet, gave $45.00 for it took it home and listed it the egay. It brought $475.00! Not bad for a Quick profit.

  27. Yeah, I made one of these just like that when I was a kid in about 1969 or 1970. It worked, but it sounded kinda squeaky when it was "running".
