I'm thousands of miles away, but still having goosebumps over that find!!!

Congrats with a find in a lifetime..... you deserve it and I'm sure it will be kept and showed to do the original builder and "second" owner honor.

What a great story! And gongratulations for new... eh... old... hot rod!

Funny thing that you did not remember to take photos; same has happened to me -I only took few pics- when I went to place where some old man had stored old Ford parts for years. It was totally unbelieveable when we we're there; big boxes full of headlight buckets for T-model, T-model grilles, wooden wheels, and pile of T-model cowls... about everything for T and A, stored from 40's. Myself, I bought T-model rear spring, door handles, and some other smaller things. It does not feel real when you are in such place, all those parts what you usually seek for years from swapmeets, there's bunches of 'em. Feels weird.

So I quess how you felt there, seeking all those parts. That's great feeling!

  15. What a great story, congratulations on the find!
You should do a new thread asking if anyone has pix from the George Kirk and california time, its a good chance someone on here knows something!

    Again, awsome story!

  16. this thread needs 6 stars, I keep telling kids that there are 1000's of old ****s (like me) that have been whoarding cars and motors for years and they all come up for sale after death.
looking for old cars? follow the obituaries!

Awesome story and congrat's on the find.

I found a very rare (approx 100 built) mopar muscle car this way a few years ago. I understand all of your feelings..........I was so nervous and anxious until the money actually changed hands and it was officially mine it's hard to explain. I also checked the garage about a dozen times once it was home and I was as proud as a pea**** dirving down the road with it on the trailer.

I look forward to seeing the 32 on the road with the HEMI between the rails of course.

    Yea Larry....
if you remember he hit a streak of luck winning the giveaway two years ago too. ...he ****s :)
He's the type of guy who's able to talk Gates into selling Microsoft and definitely should be into sales on the big scale.
I think I would prefer to run a built flatty too.
Only thing,,,, he,s itching to get this thing on the road for the summer and we don't have a built one available right now.

Tht's why you always have to checkout those leads, you never know what lurks in those garages.
    Congratulations!

One of the guys is a good friend of both of ours. He was one of the first people that we told and have spent the past few nights at his house talking and looking at old photos. Like Petejoe mentioned in the first post, he has an Ardun in his roadster now. His roadster was the first to come home in '57. He is excited that we have it and that it will be well cared for. He was also the first person that said to not put that Hemi back in there.....

I have my doubts, thats two months away. But it shouldnt take long wiring it and throwing in an available good running bad *** Y block. Interior and the rest of the niceties will take time.
I'd like to take it along with the other fellow with the ardun'd roadster. You guys and gals would love him.

Great find/story congrats to all of you involved. I have a friend who also purchased a 32 5window coupe back in 59 or 60 from cali and towed it back to Ohio with a 47 or 48 chevy. He still has it today and is planning on getting it out this year after not seeing daylight for decades and it is running the flatty that was in it when he bought it. This is going to be a summer full of 32s with alot of history and stories.

I always wonder whose hands originally built the old cars that we find..and what happened to those folks. That's why I keep a complete photo album of the history of my 40 Ford in the trunk so the next owner will know it's history.

That is why I thought it would be neat to find George Kirk who sold the car to the guy in Santa Monica in 1959. I looked a little online and came up with two listings; one in Compton and one in Gardena. I called the Gardena number but got a fax machine. I heard that he sold the car to have money to go gambling in Las Vegas! Crazy!
But 1959 was a long time ago and who knows where George Kirk is now. Maybe he stayed in Vegas, maybe he's dead or just maybe he is still out in Cali.
I am a history buff. Trust me, if he is still alive I'll find him and get the scoop!

  30. That is a great story! Congrats! Keep us all informed with what you do.

And I hope that I find one like that someday.... I guess you can always dream.
