    Hi

I have a 1927 roadster with a muncie 4 speed cable driven clutch and find it very difficult to depress the clutch? It can be done but driving for long periods might cause some pain!! Am I just being a
SISSY or is there anything that can be done like WD 40 the cable to make the shifting operation easier or f-it and go hydraulic?
    Any help would be great.

If the pedal ratio is wrong it would be hard to depress.

    Okay...

Bein' an old fart and all, I have the same prob. 'Discovered' there's a HUGE difference in cables these days - the cheap ***ed ones from Taiwan ain't worth a runny ****. If you don't mind taking the time, have a GOOD cable company (like Flanders) make up a custom cable set with TEFLON insert tubing. The teflon lets the cable like like cow sneeze on a fence rail; cable effort is cut literally in half.

After that - check pedal ratios - if you still have a prob, the TO bearing may be binding on the shaft, as the bellhousing may be off a bit.

I think you're a SISSY. Maybe you should work out more HA!! HA!! We should drive it tonight and see how bad it is.

  6. On all the cars I've owned with cable clutches, they all seemed to fray out the cable inside the housing casing considerable drag. This is usually followed by them breaking in stop and go traffic. I'd disconnect your cable at both ends and check for smooth travel. If thats OK you can decrease pedal effort by lengthening your clutch fork.
