I agree- Sounds interesing in ideal. I've watched a few of these rally's with ineterest. As a sidenote at this year's Hot Rod and Restoration show I met one of the original Cannonball Run guys. Went from NY - LA in a 71 Caddy in 37 hours 17 min!

Didn't the crew from Gas Monkey Garage (is that a bad word here?) do Player's Run or one of these things a year or two ago in a Model A sedan? I've thought it'd be cool to take a 30's coupe on one of these rallies and run with the exotics.

This isn't just a European thing...the Saudis do 'drifting' for fun on public roads with some really expensive cars, I was sick after watching this...wiping out people/property on the sidelines (who shouldn't be that close to begin with!)...Similarly, they seem to have more money than sense:

Richard Rawlings "won" one of the first Gumball Rallies. He has also done the Bullrun rally with the sedan you are talking about. He's quite well known in the rally circles - a bit differently than he is known around here. LOL!

Ive never been to europe but cant you go and buy laps to race on the Nurburgring?? How many laps would the gumball entry fee buy? call me a sissy but I bet thats far more rewarding that being a jerk in a fancy car on the highway. I just dont get it. I feel sorry for the couples family.

Looks like freedom has made it to the Middle East.

There are obviously people killed on camera in that video.

    De****able.

When I first read that, I though "what dumb***es - trying to run – like no one would be able to remember who was driving the ridicoulously painted 911"

Then, I remember what I was told way back when I used to do the Baja 500/1000: The "unofficial" Official Policy spread a**** the racers was that if you were ever in a bad accident with anyone not involved in the race... "Get back across the U.S. border as quick as possible - any way you can"

  10. the ****s driving the Porsche did hang around till the ambulance came then pissed off in another compe***ors car...leaving the Porsche in a ditch. They then got arrested trying to get in to Albania (had they crashed there they would have just disappeared!) The old guy in the VW died of a heart attack but not at the scene and his wife died later on in hospital of her injuries.
The Driver was held but the navigator was let go, The Driver (Nick Morley) was released on bail and allowed to keep his p***port as "an act of good faith"......he was then re-arrested at the airport trying to get on a private jet he had called in on his cell phone.
Having watched the Gumball on cable over the last couple of years It was inevitable someone was gona die. In the last "rally" a Viper was totally destroyed (and I mean like nowt left) an ****** Cosworth rolled at over 130mph, a Ferrari 360 spyder hit a tractor fast enough to bend the rear tractor wheel in around 12 inches and a another Ferrari went out of control in a busy town centre hitting the curb, actually breaking the rim off the wheel causing pedestrians to have to run for their lives.
Combine a bunch of *** holes with far too much money, a bunch of over priced supercars and a very drunken party every night till the early hours, this really was just waiting to happen

That whole situation makes me sick. One of those dumb***es got released on bail and then tried to hop a private plane out of the country. Of course, being the dumb*** that he is, he was caught. I wouldn't be so outraged with it had they manned up and tried to help the people they wiped out but I guess having wealth has nothing to do with having common sense.
