i'm reposting in the right area. built by college students, check out the pics. http://new.photos.yahoo.com/mrmc99/album/576460762400454717
certainly is interesting. at least they are into working on traditional cars, even if it is in the nontraditional sense.
Any more info on it ? Is it a 180 motor ? Surely they're not running one chain all the way the axle ???
you are missing the point on this project, it was built completely by students learning the metal trades, it was built from s**** parts, cab was a junk take off from a restoration, motor was donated from a pile, everything else was fabricated, engineered and machined.... and on a very small cl*** budget.....
Certainly not a waste,I understand the idea of a project that has to incorporate, many different skills and ideas into one.
I don't think anyone is missing the point.... even if an ugly girl has a genuis IQ, well she's still ugly... Nice, trying to take the guys words out of context, it's ****ing ugly...
I would have loved to work on something like that in school. However that is fuggin ugly. But cool they did it nontheless. no harm no foul eh?
Yup, that's a "rat rod" all right. Sorry to rain on your parade...but that thing is not cool. Better luck next time?
Some real wheels and tires and the engine turned so it faces North-South would help immensely. That, and a quart-sized injection of "cool".
OK now you've got me pissed, I said a waste of machinery... not time or anything else. If the teacher had any brains he would save the motorcycle engine for a motorcycle project, and teach the kids to build a proper hot rod with the rest. A more realistic motor would be found somehow. What's more this board is about traditional hot rods not ****ing RAT RODS, so don't mention them here , they are just junk. It is just another case of cobbled together ****, which has no function and will end up in the s****. If you want to see a hot rod build by a bunch of school kids check this out,Built in one semester by 6 year 13 students at the Whangamata area high school. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/beachhop/Bodyon2.jpg
my initial post was not intended to upset anyone or have the project criticized, it was simply meant to share one schools activity geared toward the promotion of vocational education. many students enter college and have never used basic tools, let alone tig welders, mig welders, plasma cutters, shears, tubing benders, lathes, mills etc. if this project inspired one student to persue metal working then it was successful and to me, that is cool, and if it inspired a student to gain an interest in hot rods, well that is a quart size injection of cool.
Wow, you have to pay tuition to learn that stuff? Good for them, better than learning how to flip the fries.....
