Tulsa, OK- April 26th, 2007- Legendary Hot Rod builder Boyd Coddington, host of TLC's hit TV series AMERICAN HOT ROD, and members of his crew will be in Tulsa Friday, June 15th and Saturday, June 16th to participate in Tulsarama 2007- three days of exciting events surrounding the unearthing of a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere, buried in a time capsule 50 years ago and being unearthed as a part of Oklahoma's Centennial celebration.

While details of their involvement are still being finalized, Boyd Coddington and his crew have confirmed that they will be available Friday, June 15th to help prepare the vehicle for it's unveiling at the Tulsa Convention Center at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, June 16th Boyd & Jo Coddington will be at the invitational car show to sign autographs. Boyd will also be awarding the "Boyd's Pick" trophy at the invitational and open car shows. The AMERICAN HOT ROD production crew will be in Tulsa to film the activities of Boyd Coddington and his crew for use in an upcoming episode of AMERICAN HOT ROD, the series.

"We are thrilled to have an automotive icon like Boyd involved with our event," said Tulsarama co-chair Sharon King Davis. "His excitement and willingness to be involved with this event is tremendous. He has definitely caught the Miss Belvedere fever!"

In addition to his other activities while in Tulsa, Boyd Coddington will also have two hot rods from his personal collection in the open car show on June 16th.

"When we heard about this once-in-a-lifetime event, we immediately wanted to be involved in some way," said Boyd Coddington. "As a life-long car guy, there is nowhere else I would rather be on that weekend than Tulsa, Oklahoma."

Maybe the plan is to put all past episodes into the vault after the '57 Plymouth is removed. Stu

I can see it now. Then open the vault and out of the Plymouth jumps Jimmy Hoffa yelling "what a ride!!"

  7. Wrong year and model I know but maybe just maybe this car will do it's best Christine immitation and have revenge on Boyd for all of the cars he has ever butchered.

  8. Great idea. . .take the car out and put Boyd in for 50 years. When he gets out he can make customs outa '07 Hondas.

'scuse me? "Prepare the car for it's unveiling"?  I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd rather see it BEFORE it gets "prepared". Like, as it gets "uncovered".......that's the only real way an reasonable info can be gotten as to survivability of a car buried in such a manner.

Boyd's not really important here -- what matters is "WHAT'S THE HUMIDITY IN OKLAHOMA?".

Because I'd love to see a mint '57 Plymouth again. We never saw one after 1961, because up here in the Snow/Rustbelt in 1957, you could hear them already rusting on the showroom floors.

Beautiful cars -- "SUDDENLY" and all that, but rarely seen up here after 1962.

  12. What is the humidity in the ground? Average rainfall is about 33 in. per year times 50 years. hhhmmmmmm I hope it was sealed well.

Seriously I would like to know how he got involved in this....and why would they involve him? unless they really are going to get Geraldo Rivera to do a show on it like the Al Capone deal and Boyd will be his side kick....what cluster it will be.....

Does his crew have the ability to work on an old car? Sure, they can bolt on new parts and Boyd can place the order to 1-800-billet but what experience do they have on working on an actual old car with old parts? Do they know what points are or where they are found? That would make an interesting show. Just hope they don't ruin the car.

I hope the cars is Ok but, I'm expecting them to need a metal detector and a scuba diver. Maybe they can pour the water thru a screen to filter out the bits of metal. But hey Boyd can fix it! Just slather on some of that bondo they like so well.

I was really looking forward to them digging up that Plymouth and seeing how it survived for 50 years. With Boyd there it will just become a circus that will probably be better missed. It's a shame they got him involved, he will only detract from what could be a neat historic event.

Personally, I like the idea that they might find Jimmy Hoffa in it.

As for "Billet Boyd", throw him in the hole and fill it up with drain oil.

    As for the car,

I guess a lot of it is going to come down to how well sealed the time capsule is and how much moisture was in the air when the capsule was sealed.

    As for Boyd,

My bug zapper is more entertaining.
