I know there are quite a few sources that sell pre-cut gussets, tabs, threaded weld-in bungs, engine mounts, things like that. Can you guys recommend some places? I know only of the Welder Series website and also I noticed that Speedway carries a few things, but not seeing what I want.

Also, looking for someone who sells just the weld in bungs with the 7* ID taper that mate up to the Ford style tie rod ends that everyone uses with their split wishbones. Need a source for those pretty quick.

    Thanks guys!

I've got the one's that are tapered on the outside diameter that weld into the bones. That's a done deal. I mostly need the ones that will weld into the frame that have the tapered ID.

What I would do to have a lathe in my garage. I wouldn't be asking questions like this! :(

Also, get a catalog from Stock Car Products, circle track place. Lots of neat hardware, all a bit different from drag/streetrod type places.
Their truck bar page is pretty neat, too.

  7. Get one of these. I had one, very high quality and U.S.A. made! Way better than the Harbor Freight, etc. 7x10, but a little smaller. Perfect size for making stuff like this, though. Although it doesnt have change gears(but can be modified) get a few few taps and dies, and you're in business.

for the price speedway sells those bungs for...i dont even waste my time at the lathe

I've done a few in alot larger diamater steel and also the main advantage to the lathe is that with a 4 jaw chuck you can clamp in a non round part and put the taper anywhere you want it on that part....saves having a weld on the end of your wishbone mounts

This was my theory as well. Same with the gussets. I didn't feel like going a whole stick of flat bar to make something that was already made for me and I could use that time to work on the 1-million other things I need to do on this damn car.

Besides those already listed here are some alternate sources of spuds, bungs, tabs and brackets (and all sorts of other widgets too). The first two are circle track oriented so their stuff is generally beefier and more suited to hot rods. The others however have lots of trick stuff that can make life easier.

    Scooter,
Try the local sand buggy shops thay are down off of Valley View. Tons of stuff to choose from and you can get you hands on them, instead of ordering from pic's.
