My mom and dad are taking their recently finished 32 pickup. I may drive the roadster down to spectate, not sure yet.
I'll be there next weekend for this one! Hope to meet a few more HAMB folks while checking out the killer rides!!
I can't go during the day Friday or early Saturday. Anyone know if it'd be worth getting there late in the afternoon either day?
If Bob is going then I'll be there. Don't tell him that I was going to be there anyway......... Happy Trails, Mick
I have not been to it in a couple of years. I believe this is the first year they are calling it the Merc Deuce reunion. It is the meeting of the custom builders hall of fame and there are usually a lot of them that attend the event. A regular whos who of the old time custom builders. In the past they did not have a large car turn out but the ones that do show up are really special. John
Weren't the Merc/Deuce Reunion's held every fifth year at a different venue for 25 years? I caught one in Holland, MI and it was excellent. Pretty sure that's where I first met Gene Winfield and Bill Hines.
It was at the 1984 Merc Deuce Reunion when I had a full conversion into kustoms. The love affair for Mercs had bitten me. I'll never forget when Stuckey's '51 Merc drove up and stole the show. Purple & White, Chopped, sectioned, louvered. I get the same feeling when Homer Simpson looks at a donut. "AAAAUUUUUUUUHHHHHHH!!! Mercury" I cannot wait for this weekend!! Happy Trails, Mick
Yes it was set up years ago for five show every five years. I've been begging and pleading for another one. Starbird is going to do it and Hopefully it will have the same magic as the rest of them..... Gonna be kool!!!! Happy Trails, Mick
i was filling a deisal tank in the back of the farm truck when a merc and a 55 chev pulled in... they were on there way to davenport for the 5th and final one..i was so bummed i couldnt go! ive got pics of the merc from carnut a couple years ago...it was red with flames, white tuck and was from texas..ill try to find it
I went to the M/D Reunion in Holland,Mi also, only 10 miles from home.Decided I had to go to the "LAST" Merc-Deuce Reunion in Davenport. It ****ed.Probably half the amount of cars that were in Holland. They gave away leftover mugs from 1994,and when I asked why there were no mugs for the "LAST" Reunion,Jerry told me he didn't want to get stuck with a bunch of them.If Starbird is hosting it,it will be good.
That Holland show was the first show I went to after I bought my 50 Merc.It left a lasting impression on me,and I can still remember the joy I felt when I realized my old car would make it to Holland and back.I also realised that people drove them everywhere, when I saw Jack Rudy in his Chevy all the way from Cali.I was amazed!
