Any decent art supply store will have Leaf and Size. Online, try www.Earlmich.com Start out with Imitation Gold Leaf, and Aluminum Leaf. Much easier, and less money. The technique is the same. Safariknut did a Gold Leaf How To here, check the archives.
might try dick blick , art essentials , maybe pinstriper.com .....heck do a search for it ....start off with some imitation leaf....cheaper to practice with ....be patient with the size.....as it will make or break you job......( note to self ....remember those words.... ) and have fun with it..... brandon
thanks, im excited to try it, always loved the look. gonna try a simple design on a black helmet after i do some more research. any other comments welcome
Here ya go: http://www.tcpglobal.com/kustomshop/ksgold.aspx They sell Gold, Silver and a few other leaf products along with the tools and How to books.
If you use the "search" button at the top of the page, with the Keyword "Gold Leaf",you'll get 153 matches, with this one on page 4: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8677&highlight=gold+leaf
You can also check out craft stores in area, I know places like Hobby Lobby stock gold and silver leaf.
I hope you used the 40 or 50% off coupon in the flier every week. Otherwise, their stuff is usually too expensive for the quality.
I got some stuff that was on clearance, the leaf was only a buck a pack! I knew it wasn't high quality stuff, but who wants to ruin good materials experimenting?
I just did gold leaf for the first time last wknd. It came out OK and the customer loved it. I used imitation on a practice tank I have and then the real stuff on his tank. Pearl art centers is where I got my goods. I used Rolco Quick Dry Sizing with a yellow tint, worked out pretty good on a black tank. I wouldn't call myself an expert by any means, but at least I know what its like now.
