Gotta love the C/G 56 Buick, either it was a stick or it ate dynaflows. Later pictures shows what looks like a Mc Coulough {?} blower on it if its the same car

The chick in the blue and white dress is HOT. Im tired of seeing fat chicks in belly shirts thinking they look good.

  14. Anyone know where this lump came from. Can't tell what kind of block (chevy I think, by the intake arangement) it is, but with a nose-driven supercharger, it looks like a lakes engine.

    That is pretty cool!

  19. Cool Thread!

Here's some pics of my car at the '58 Nats in OK City:

Pops ran in the "B Altered Coupe" class. Turned 13.40 ET with a top speed of 107 MPH.

Back in the 50's, the car ran a 1953 331ci Chrysler Hemi with 4 Stromberg 97s:

The "4th Annual National Championship DRAG RACES" stickers are still affixed to the car: [IMG] [IMG]

I used the link on the Journal to get to the photos. As I looked through the Strokers album I kept thinking the stuff in the backgroung sure looked familiar. Then I came to the picture with the "Westroads Texaco" sign and realized this was my home town. I worked there my senior year of high school, 1960. I remember there were car shows on the parking lot.

The 56 Buick was bought new by St Louisan Dixie Killgore who installed a Mc Collough blower and raced at many midwest strips as well as the Oklahoma Nationals.
The 40 pickup was owned by Kansas rodder Ray Farner and showed the truck in St. Louis.

One more, the lump photo is of Bob Helmuth, Brother John, Ernie Arteaga, and gas class racer Wayne Arteaga posing around Waynes Potvin blown Olds that ran in the Henry J in background. The car was featured on the cover of Hot Rod in late "50s.
