i am looking for a little knowledge or advice on chopping a 51 chevy sedan
    my
MAIN QUESTION is about when it comes to laying down the stock back gl***,,

,,i want to chop it ,,ive chopped a couple trucks and a model T coupe,,,but this is a lil different and dont want to **** it up !,,

i have studyied the top of this car for for a while,,but the thing i am not seeing is laying down the rear window,,it seems to have a "crown" a few inches above the rear gl***,,that and do you actually remove the back gl*** surround during the chop?,,where do you cut in regards to the beltline?looking for pointers or tips...

also,,i am undecided on slanted b pillars or vertical,,,i think i like both,,is one more trouble than the other???

what is an ideal chop for these cars???

and yes,,i did a search,,but couldnt really come up with what i was looking for....

does anyone have pics of 49-52 chopped sedans with b pillars ?

,,and last but not least( i know! alot of questions!) think maybe you can photochop it????( i know,,not a great angle!)

    thanks so much inadvance!

,,i like the vertical B pillars,,,i am thinking i actually like them more than slanted,,,almost because nowadays slanted B pillars seem to be expected,,,,

I chopped this one the same way I chopped the Shoebox that I did the TECH Thread on.

Except, I didn't have to move the Rear Gl*** foreward to get the proportions the way I wanted them...

I let them kiss the belt line.

The Thread about the Shoebox was called Shoebox Chop, or Shoebox Chop TECH, or something like that...

The Chevy was 4 1/2 and 6 Anglechop, if I remember correctly.

( with both the Ford and the Chevy I cut the Dome off the Sides first... )

When I layed the back gl*** on my Merc I cut along the beltline, but left about 4 inches uncut above the decklid. Kinda self centering.....OLDBEET

  21. I just finished the gl*** on a 51 Bel Aire. lot has changed in the the last year or two. makes changes easier than ever.
I cut 4 inches off an olds one piece windshield and a couple inches off the two corner windows and one inch off the center rear window

  26. I'm not as old as Ol BEET but the repop gl*** coming in is available in laminated instead of tempered that can't be cut. it's also available in smoke grey, bronze, green and clear. sure makes things easier than it used to be. been doing gl*** since 1965 and now they come out. I still have some old tricks that work on those not being repopped.....Jim

A buddy chopped his chev and used an old skool trick using the rear window and surround metal from a 48 Chev. It looks awesome.

  28. Damned if I can't find a good profile pic....here a few for now. I'm sure you recognize McPhail's...the black one belongs to Larry in the Road Zombies...he's a HAMBer, but I can't remember what he goes by here...not sure who owns the purple '50.

It was a 4 door, but ideas are the same, original rear window leaned and brought forward.
