i took this on monday at the garlits museum in florida.
can you imagine if this set up went further than the "lets try it and see what happens" state? a blown and injected nitro hemi, with twin turbos....how wicked would this be if everything was dialed in and working together?

I wonder why the turbos; shouldn't the blower provide enough boost?

I think that this car and engine was a Gale Banks project back in the 80s. As someone said it was a tuners nightmare! Also right after they started running it NHRA outlawed turbos in top fuel.

yes, the blower will build boost, as well as the turbos. the blower builds rpms faster, and the turbos make additonal boost for power.
firetrucks that use detroit silver 92 (a v-6 and a v-8) diesel engines have a blower and a turbo on them to this day. same priciples apply...blower to build rpms fast, turbo to provide more boost for more power. actuall the detroit silver 92 engines are 2 strokes, which helps them rev faster than a normal 4 stroke. even tho diesels can't rev very high as it is, the 2 stroke, blower and turbo, helps move the massive amount of weight faster (on a firetruck anyway)

That is most likely the dragster campaigned by Chase Knight of Crane Cams that used to run in S Florida. Chase now lives in Daytona. I dont think it ever did get sorted out completely but its an impressive piece

They already consume half the engine with every run. Not so sure they could handle turbos over the roots and still make the finish line.

Yankee ingenuity at it's best. 'Hell son, what else have we got that we can hang on here to mak'er FLY!"

People who can even put all that together and just make it RUN impress the crap outta me.
