I love the looks of the 34 grill. I am not sure how to use it with a 1930 Model A coupe.
    Ideas, pics?

The Brown-neck bandito started out as a Model A Coupe with a '33 or '34 grille. I remember a picture of it... parked against a brick wall... maybe even with a "Shifters" club sign in front of it?

Anyway, I've seen it done before. Not the best combination - but slightly better than some goony tractor grille.

Personally, I'd put it in front of the radiator. Seems a good place for a grille. :D :D

Sorry - couldn't resist. Not sure this would be a good combo myself...

Norm Grabowskie's Kookie Kar II was a model A with a 33-34 grille. I tried a search but couldn't find any decent pics.

Try a 34 Commercial Radiator shell, the 33-34 P***enger grilles belong on 33-34 P***enger cars.
A dufus idea is a dufus idea no matter how talented the dufus who's doin' it is.

I always thought a '34 grill and hood would kinda' compliment the '28/'29 cowl. Not so much on a '30/'31.

It would be perfect if your goal is making the cover of OSR.

A friend of mine built the chrome yellow 28-29 highboy sedan that you might see on the east coast. He made a complete hood for it. I really liked the look. He set the grill angle to match the cowl swoop. The full hood makes it look like it belongs there and not just hung on there at the last minute. He put a lot of effort into it and pulled it off well.

I guess that's slightly better than all the '33-'34s you see in vintage pictures with Deuce grilles... but only slightly. I wouldn't do it myself. I'd be more inclined to go with a "gooney" Farmall grille.

There was one in Street Rodder back in the early 80's. Was actually pretty cool. Think it was a '33 shell, full hood on a '28-9 A roadster on '32 rails with Halibrands. It was clean....

I appreciate all the comments. It is a different look, and isn't that what it is all about sometimes.

In that case, flip the grille upside down. Then you will be really different!

As Jeem noted, this was a minor trend in the '80s. A few pretty nice roadsters (hiboys on deuce rails) pulled it off, always with a full hood, and usually (I think) with the wheelbase stretched a tad. Contrary to some of the opinions here, I think most of the ones that were put together carefully came out looking sleek but unusual.

Check your back issues of Street Rodder; some of these cars were on the cover, or at least in sizeable features in the magazine.

you have the right idea, it's a matter of taste, although you really didn't throw anything shocking out there, so just disregard the weezers

I don't know about a coupe, but I think the right color (I'm not a red fan) and hoodsides don't make this too bad:

Old post , but fiqure I would share. My buddy is doing a one with a 34 grill, used old fenders and fender lips from a 53 ford truck, he even made a tilt front end with it. :D I though he was nuts, but it actullly doesnt look bad when you can get a good view. He still working on it.

Okay trying to get some feedback for my buddy useing a 34 grill in a 29 roadster. I told him he to leave it where it is and now he wants to stretch his hood another 12" Take a look at the picks. Leave or stretch?
    I say leave :D

I'd say maybe 6" or less at the most and lay the windshield posts back to match the grille angle.
I'd do the windshield angle change first as that will make the front look longer without stretching the hood.
Right now, the angled gl*** on the stock posts move the windshield out over the cowl.
That won't happen with the posts themselves angled.

Absolutely DON'T want the grille out so far that it looks like the axle is moved back on the ch***is!

Personally, I'd be running a stock or Deuce shell...but this isn't so bad!
A one piece hood wouldn't be my preference either...but again, not as bad as I would have thought!

OK, you asked for FEEDBACK - I think it's ****** horrible looking, in either configuration. The 33-4 grille is a very angled swoopy item and a A body is very square - they fight each other.
It's just an opinion, but you asked.:D
