Por-15 fuel tank repair kit? I am sure lots of you on here have used it. I cant seam to find any one around my area that can re-do my tank. So I am left with two options. I can either buy a new tank of that lame auction site for $250 or I can use the Por-15 stuff. I would like some opinions on this stuff its ease of use from people who have used it before I jump in a buy it.

I used it about a year ago, so far no problems what so ever.

I shopped the flange off the sides, welded up the seam, then cleaned and sealed it, no leaks.

It wasn't to bad, I got the entire "kit" and followed the directions to the letter. Just plan on all day.

All the tank rolling here and there and empty seams like a lot of work. That's why i want to know if the stuff is worth all the effort. Also has any one used the patching stuff that comes with it? I have a small leak around my drain plug.

You can just have your tank tested at a radiator shop that does gas tanks. It's about 80-100 bucks.
There is some fuel line I used on my motorcycle called Red Kote, they sell it o'reily's auto. maybe another route.

POR-15 is the only brand I will use. As stated above follow instruction exactly. It will take an entire weekend to do the job correctly, alot of drying time in between steps.

Call around to the radiator shops - found a shop in a "not too great" part of town that did a tank cheaper than I could buy the kit for - they had it sealed with the red stuff - and they had it done in 3 days and with the job I know it took a bunch of tumbling with media in it to clean it out - it's been 4.5 years now and it's still great. The only thing I did was let it cure another 3 days (they said 24 hours it would have been fine, but I left it 3 days before ****oning things up and filling it with fuel.

Most, well almost all shops around me don't do tanks any more. So i guess por-15 is the way for me.
