Turns out I've got an entire day to kill on Saturday, May 12, and was wondering if there are any traditional hot rod/HAMB type stuff to check out in Columbia, SC, or there abouts.
We do a hot rod lunch thing in Charleston, about 80 miles south of Coloumbia, if you can't find enough to do up there. There is a pretty good handfull of HAMB guys around that area, so there should be some guys to have a beer with. There is a pretty damn nice junkyard around there too...... Holler if you need me, -Abone.
Thanks -- I was hoping maybe to find a swap meet, cruise, show, or anything... I'm here while my wife attends a professional seminar on Saturday. So where's the hot rod lunch, exactly? 80 miles might not be too far to drive, even in the wife's Kia (groan).
There is a cruise in on Saturday night on US #1 ... between I-20 and I-26 ... about 7 or 8 miles from downtown Columbia. It is bewteen Fat Boys Cafe and the Wendy's ... usually 125 or more cars ... 4 or 5 HAMBers usually show up. Check out this old thread ... about a junk yard 25 miles out of Columbia ... down I-20 and to the right ... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116005
Straight down I-26 to North Charleston. It is at a Subway. I go sometimes ... FlamedAbone can tell more and PM the info ... and a phone number of the guy that they all meet at ... Boones, 32 Viper, FlamedAbone and a few others show up. I am going to Belton ( the other direction ... to a Bar-B-Que ... for old racers ...
Thanks for all the info. If I don't make it down to Charleston, I'll at least hit the cruise on Saturday night.
Cars and SC do not go that well together unless the stars align.. sounds like they did because there is a cruise night going on.... other then a few guys getting together for lunch on Sat and hanging in the garage talking **** for an hr.... that the only car stuff going on Sat in Charleston
