On my route today I noticed a late 40's early 50's Chevy (3000?)pickup in a lot next to a ton of ruble and garbage. I asked the guys in the building next door what the deal was and they said the truck must of got left there for junk cause it just showed up one morning. (not the best area) There are no tags and not even a reg or inspection sticker on it. It's all original and beat. It looks like it served most of it's life as a work truck. The kids in the neighborhood have seemed to walk on the roof an it's oil canned but could be saved. It would be a good candidate for an RPU build. It would need cab corners. Here is where it's abandoned. http://maps.yahoo.com/index.php#mvt..., ny&trf=0&lon=-78.814523&lat=42.869517&mag=3
Here's another trcuck I spotted on my route today. Late 30's Ford Wrecker. I tried at the nearest house but no one was home. In Sardinia, NY Off Of Route 39.
from the pic looks like its got some good steel might just need some hammering around. hope it gets a good home.
These Studes were on route 62 just north of Warren, PA. I slowed down best I could. I had a line of traffic behind me and no where to pull over.
I'll go look at the Chev tomorrow, it's not in that bad of an area, that's part of Keisertown...lol I never seen that wrecker before in Sardina, must be off the beaten path.
Rob, I went and looked the Chev truck over yesterday morning and figured it was good enough to split between myself and a fellow club member. We went back this morning emptied all the garbage out of the back, found the other chrome bumper and a new cab corner, then loaded it up. On the way in there was a guy reading some kind of blueprints, he gave us the freindly hello and good luck with it as we were leaving. We are just about to start going down the side street and we get stopped by a guy driving in and wants to know what's going on. We tell him we're just picking up the old junk truck not leaving more junk. He says that belongs to my freind, I own the building and said he could store it here. So a little bit of conversation later we dropped the truck back off and cursed your name for an hour afterwards. Some times the deals are to good to be true.
sounds like the guy arrived just in time to save his freinds truck. i would have found out who owned the property before i just loaded up someone elses property. i dunno, just me i guess.
I guess you would have to see the truck and the property to actualy think someone there really gave a crap about what's going on..lol It definatly looks like a dumping ground and the shop emploees were on break yesterday when I was there and didn't say a thing.
