What's goin' on fellow HAMB'ers !? I was turned to this site by a couple guys I'm friends with (daddyo54, drgnwgn289), and a couple guys I met at the Roundup down in Austin (kartbreaker, Chucklehead Al, and a couple others I don't remember what they said their names were). I'm hell with names, so bear with me. If you guys saw the yellow '53 Studebaker Commander (that was customized into a Ranchero/El Camino type custom back in the late '50's), that was my dad and I. We're from Denison,TX and drove the Stude down to Austin for the Roundup....the first time it's had any REAL miles put on it since '64 !! We had a blast and I'm already gearin' up for the Stray Kat 500. I just got into pinstriping, and I'm having a blast with it....got some helpful tips from Jake (drgnwgn289), and a 17yr old named Chad, which I am not sure if he's on here or not. I'm in the middle of getting rid of all my late model shit to buy this cherry '55 Stude wagon I found. (I've already got the engine and rear end that's gonna go in it. ) I've got a whole bunch of shit I can think of to type, but I'm sure you guys will coaxe it outta me all too soon. -Aaron
You're in luck Aaaron!! This just so happens to be "Welcome Texans Week" on the HAMB! So... heeeeeeeeeeeeeere goes: WELCOME TO THE HAMB! Sam.
Another gay Texan! Just kidding Aaron I'm glad you finally made it!Now if we can just get a few lurkers we know to post.(you know who you are!)
No joke ! I've noticed the influx of all the Texan newbies, and damn ! Maybe the HAMB world will be a better place now that there's more Texans here....or maybe a worse place ! -Aaron PS....my damn PM's say I have one, but when I go into it, there's nothing there.....What the fuck ???
BTW Jamie.....Shut Yer Trap, Son !! What are ya gonna do about a motor for that '57 Chevy o' yours ? 'm down to help if you need some extra arms and legs to get that engine outta there....unless you're just gonna let Troy help you out. LOL !! -Aaron
Welcome...I'm a North Texan as well...The goal this week is to get as many Texas HAMBers as we can to join this forum...Go get'em... JP
Yeah dusty I made it home in the 54 after the round-up and two days later the motor blew I guess I hung around you too much!
LMGDAO !!! Fuckin' Hippies !!....Oh wait, my dad's a hippie....Ah well !! I'm surprised you remembered that Dusty, what with the "small bit" of drink ya had in you !! So was there a Cramps song playing when the ol' Y block blew ?? -Aaron
Is that was happens to people who meet DUSTY! My trans is gone, rebuilding it as we speak. Hey Dusty still working on getting ya down here, try not to worry!!! Hey Hard Luck, great hearing from ya, PM' me homie!!!
Alright, I'll send ya one when I figure out the shit on this board. The other board I frequent is a bit different than this one, so it's gonna take some getting use to, but I'm just going to make my home here and quit going to the other one. -Aaron
[ QUOTE ] BTW, gotcha, were you the guy that was talking to my dad and gave us some Kustoms t-shirts ?? -Aaron [/ QUOTE ] It wasn't me...It was probably Kustomscaraudio...He and I both live in the same town, and we both have businesses here...If it was at the roundup, it was definately him... JP
Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma......watch out California, Michigan, and New York/New Jersey we might jest take some of the glory down south
Welcome to the HAMB. One thing though.... isn't there already a "HardLuck" with NO space on here??? If so, things are gonna get REAL confusing!
[ QUOTE ] isn't there already a "HardLuck" with NO space on here??? [/ QUOTE ] yeah...we'll have to call one of them ( more harder really really unlucky luck ) Howdy! - Welcome!
Aaron, Were you guys at the SK500 last year? If so the old "Studecamino" is a neat old custom. Got a couple shots of it if I can find them. Hope to see you there this year. Look for a primered 63 Grand Prix. Was this it?
Yeah, that's the car. It was trailered there last year by a different guy. A little bit of history on the "Studecamino"....It was originally customized in '56-57 by LeeRoy Winters. LeeRoy raced a Triumph all over the US, and used the Stude to haul his bike. After the racing was over, it was customized again in '62, with the '57 Studebaker Hawk fins added and '31 Chevy headlight buckets attached to the back of the roof. In '64, they blew up the blower motor that was in it and put it in a barn.....until '95 when my dad's buddy found it. He did an 11-day thrash to get it ready for Darryl Starbird's museum, where it sat around for another year and a half. It was sold to another person, who's wife said "it was either him or the car". He sold it to his cousin, who in turn, ended up selling it to my dad. Since '95, it hadn't even had 200 miles put on it....we fixed some things on it, brakes, 12 volt wiring, tranny, and other little shit, and drove the hell out of it. We have VERY minor problems on the way down to the Round-Up, but I didn't think it was too bad, considering it had only had 200 miles on it in damn ear 10 years !! -Aaron
Hey Aaron I met you & your dad Roundup weekend in the La Quinta pkg lot Saturday afternoon, I'm the ole grey headed dude talked to your dad for about 30 minutes. probly kept you all from eating dinner or something. Welcome to the HAMB, tell your dad Eddie bell said hello!
Welcome Hard Luck..., Wingnutz here..., "Rush Chairman"..., "Damn glad to greet you"!!! I'm the "Kontinentals unofficial far northern Texas chapter in Waukesha Wisconsin Cheerleader"...!!! Bet you didn't know Texas extends all the way up to Lake Superior now ..., didn't you...??? Mark
Did you buy that from Sam Rambo or did it change hands since he bought it in Dewey last year?
Yeah, my dad got it from Sam. When we put the damn thing on the trailer, it took 2 quarts of tranny fluid to get it on, and 2 quarts to get it off !! -Aaron
