went out to the hills below Mount Raineer for a little fly in vintage plane and car show today followed, well I was late for the rendesvue so by followed I mean hauled *** trying to catch up, finally showing five minutes behind, Steve, Josh, Dave and gang we were a**** the first cars to show the place is a long row of houses along a gr*** airstrip all the houses have hangers, and all the hangers have vintage planes in them most were out already, and soon more started flying in there was a gr***y area for cars and that started filling up fast too mostly 'tiquers, but a very friendly casual gathering here are a few pictures I snapped, in no particular order
some of these planes came roaring in, others chugged in like tractors there were a few bikes and several stationary motors too all the time planes landing and taking off filling the strip and air
That looks like a bunch of fun. We have the Sierra Sky Park Airport in Fresno that is set up like that with everyone having their own hangars at home. That looks like a really cool place to have a show.
the two seater cigar shaped monoplane was very cool but I think my favorite was the little black biplane came roaring out of the sky like a hot rod more motor than plane
man my computer is slow tonight.. Mike is that you? I thought you were in Oregone 'didn't see any bovine urination but it was in the general vacinty of Buckley
Yeah, power to weight ratio... gotta' be about right. So, can anyone tell me what's the motor in this one? I'm not real familiar with round engines, but I think it's a little too big to be a Velie (or one of the other iterations of that family). Glad to see someone was able to get out... I was riding the rails today; got to see a couple cool cars from the tracks. -bill
Those pics are great Paul. Thanks for coming by last night. Good turn out at the shop. Good to get people together talking shop. It is good motivation. The show today was a blast. One of the better events that I have attended in sometime. I will plan to attend every year now. Good times. Thanks again for the pics. Steve
Mike is that you? I thought you were in Oregone Your not keeping up. I've been in Aridzona for 2 years but will be up your way in late July and August
Muttley, I did a couple touch and go's there a few years ago. Have you ever been out to eagle field for the WW2 fly in? really cool too.
Hotrods or Old Cars and planes fit well together......the ideas and simple factor work perfect and the trying to figure out what will work. Chris Nelson Kansas Here is a post from this past summer... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144261&highlight=Chris+airplanes
small town fly in show A life long dream came true for local horse-fly Bill Stoolmaster this weekend with his Broadway debut in "Cat On a Hot Tin Roof". As a 1998 graduate of our own Everett Dirksen High School here in Pommeroy, Stoolmaster's goal has been to perform on Stage in New York and finally crawl atop it's famed reeking heaps of curbside refuse. Stoolmaster met this lofty ambition in the opening scene of "Cat" as he crawls across the cast enclosing Brick's leg. Mr. Stoolmaster makes several significant dramatic appearances when he flies in lazy circles around Maggie's head in the second act and when he lands upon Brick's neck in the Finale to draw up moisture through his proboscis. Strong reviews have fortified Stoolmaster's portfolio and have landed him a supporting role in the national touring show of "Phantom of the Opera". Mr. Stoolmaster's parents, living in a dead cow's skull with their 11, 372 other children and maggots in a ditch in Farmer Brown's field here in Pommeroy, are buzzing with excitement. Or did you mean "small town fly-in show"?
Using hyperbole to point out the importance of proper punctuation. In this case a missing hyphen changes the entire meaning of the thing. Also I'm sitting here writing this instead of getting something done in the garage.
Nice response Paul. That type of ******** is why I only come on here from time to time. More lately because I have scene less of it. But just when you turn your head!
something like this always goes down as my favorite show of the year... I would have loved to have been at this one.
This for sure was one of the best shows that I have ever been to. No real organization, just come and have a good time. All word of mouth. My family and I ate for $14.00! You can't go to a movie for that anymore. Nothing like driving hot rods to a great show, with a great atmosphere. Thanks for the additional pics Paul. Steve
