Picked this sweety up with some other stuff today for 40 bucks. "Good day at the sales " I got to say. P.S. It's not for sale
Yard sales are AWESOME! I'm in the process of having one. Yestersday I did over $900.00 in 10 hours with **** that I've been ac***utating for 17 years. I could sell nothing today and I'd be a happy camper Long live the yard sale!! NIce score by the way
I bought one of those toilet paper oil filters still in the box for a dollar at a rummage sale recently and an old Camaro flat tach for fifty cents. Fun. -Strat.
Good work, Corn Boy! I went to two sales in Medford yesterday and didn't see a single beehive oil filter. You win...
That IS a cool find - question is, how much of a time investment was it? I can't justify the percentage of wins/losses in the time investment for yard sales.
Nice find! I pulled a NOS in the box Autolite oil filter out of the dumpster across the street last year. Boss 427 Mustang guy on eBay went $83.00 for it. Ya can't beat free.
You just never know what "treasure" may be hiding in someone's garage, ba*****t, attic or shed. Yard sales sometimes unearth the strangest things....as well as municipal spring and fall bulk pickup days.
Well it's time to build another car around the part. Don't ya just hate it??? Great find, I've never been that lucky.
YARD SALES RULE !!!! I ONCE BOUGHT A McCULLOCH SUPER CHARGER WITH THE IDLER & MOUNTING STUFF FOR A NAIL HEAD BUICK FOR $150.00... ALSO SCORED SOME ORIGINAL Y~BLOCK T~BIRD VALVE COVERS FOR $75.00 I HAVE FOUND LOTSA STUFF BEFORE ... INCLUDING A '24 BUICK 2dr SEDAN BODY LESS THE DOORS FOR $40.00. CANT FIND IT ALL SITTING ON YER *** LOOKIN AT YER COMPUTER
I was hoping to see my car at the drags Saturday, too. But it's now in about a million pieces, getting a long overdue freshening for the Bonneville trip (see "Help support the Bonneville dream" thread). Hope to have it back on the street/strip by July. Meanwhile, I'm thinking of having a hot rod garage sale to help fund the buildup and trip... Thanks for the inspiration!
One day my wife comes home with 2 old drag news' from the mid 50's.she say's she got them from a yard sale around the corner from her mom's house, and they have a whole box of them.so I haul *** over there and get to talking to the guy.he say's his old man used to drag race back in the day at irwindale, lions, santa ana, etc.he said, maybe you might be interested in some of this oldsmobile stuff in the garage.turns out to be a dis***embled olds rocket.plus a complete 3/2 rochester/offenhauser setup, and a dual quad carter/offenhauser setup.both complete with linkage and fuel line setup.I asked how much for all the mags and the engine stuff. He said how does $25.00 sound.the time it took me to go to the atm and get back there with my truck was the longest 15 minutes of my life.I was sure somebody was going to snake me while I was gone.YEAH!!HIT THE YARD SALES!!
I go to yard sales all the time and buy up car parts to sell on ebay. Not long ago I got a chrome grille from a 2006 Dodge truck for $15 (guy had changed it to black) and sold it on ebay for $137. This weekend yeilded an F-250 wheel for free (I picked it up and said how much for this? and the guy said, if you want that take it)
Last year I bought a fibregl*** T bucket body at a yard sale $10 and it fit in the Surburban to gat it home.
I found a Eelco white faced amp gauge, Judson boost gauge for a blower. Both housed in a Offy 3 hole cast aluminum gauge panel. I bought it for 10 cents. Sold the gauges for $75 & $50 bucks. Not bad score. Yeah, I love yard sales too! Picked out an old fishing tackle box out of the garbage. Had a few ****py lures. Sold that at a swap for $40.00. Paid for gas. Not too proud to pick garbage either.
hrm...wonder how much one is worth thats been sitting in a bait shop for 40+ years.....I have one CHEAP...
Here's another pretty cool score this weekend. New in the box with some other electrical junk for 1 dollar. Anybody know these guages? Has a template for drilling holes in an instrument panel. For a car I wonder. Can't find a date anywhere. Says it's for microamperes. Is that what we call Amps.? Love the yard sale stories.
THese were at the Lake Summerset garage sales last friday. I was working so I did not get to go to many of them. But did get an older Schwinn.
My dad picked up an A-coupe and i found a t roadster body at yard sales, we p***ed up a 1930-31 AA that coulda been had for $100
kinda off course, but id hung a sign up in our restaurant about wantin old cars...ive only got a few hits on it ever but i did manage to buy a complete imperial with all four hubcaps layin in it for 200 bucks! not bad for four nice hubcaps....ohh and the 392 hemi sittin under the hood!
Just picked up 10 "little books" I didn't have, in great shape, from a garage sale this morning.....$5.00 for ALL of 'em !!!
Good deal, there's a guy doing local car shows upstate NY that wants like $10 a shot for those things. I once bought an early AM-FM GM car radio at the flea market for all of $5. Ran the number, it was 63 Cadilliac. Tested it and it worked. 7 days later on eBay it went for $110 -
You don't have to kill the fox to enjoy the hunt. A bush in the hand is worth 2 birds. Or something like that.
The Triplett guage is for old panel mount electronics stuff, thus the holes. milliamps is for 1/1000 amp. Mount it next to the flux capacitor.
You didn't sell Barney did ya surley no body in their right mind would give more than a nickel for him take care D, see ya next trip up yer way Vance
Scored an Eelco 6x2 fuel block and a rad aluminum oil filter plus a 1 1/2 ton floor jack today at a garage sale. Got to lookin around the guys garage and he had tons of vintage g***er pics on the walls. Also a really cool pic of George Montgomery's Willy's. He ran a Willy's with a 580 HP Pontiac mill. He had a ton of great stories about racing with George.
